Where's Da Catnip?

Today my Mom was outside quite a bit playing in the garden. Stormie, my basenji brother was stuck inside with me, after he bugged Mom too many times by messing up all her mulching efforts. I watched in anticipation as my Mom planted all kinds of seedlings and plants, but lo and behold! No catnip!!! I was in serious distress, so I clawed at the door and meowed until Mom got the point and left me come outside for a little while. I meandered through the garden and flower beds, nary a sprig of catnip to be found!!! Can you imagine that? And the silly basenji was pouting, because he thought NutterNipz dog biscuits grew on plants! What silly creatures dogs are!!!Anyway, I am sorely disappointed in the lack of catnip in the gardens. Mom did promise to go buy me a plant of catnip on Monday, after I rolled in the dirt and dust and then threatened to go in and spread the dirt on Mom's freshly vacced floor. Sometimes a cat has to use drastic measures to get his own way!!! But I won! I will have my catnip after all! My day is complete! Purrs, y'all! I'm off to pester my basenji brother, and play with my new feather toy Mom got me.

My Sunday Adventures

Purrrrrrrrr! Sunday! I usually get to go outside and climb trees and chase birds at least once on a Sunday. I get so excited I claw and meow insistantly at the door until my Mom obliges me. But today, I didn't get to go out until late when Mom watered the flowers because our neighbors were visiting and they brought their really big dog, Maddie! Maddie is a nice enough dog, but I don't know her very well, and she really seems to like to chase things, so Mom kept me indoors until Maddie left for the day. So I took a long catnap in the sunshine on my cat tree. Finally, I had some freedom to go outside! There is a certain robin that loves to tease me! I'm going to have me some Robin Stew before the end of summer I hope! That robin is the biggest pest! He just digs up worms right in front of me and acts like I'm not there! That makes me meow in a funny way Mom says. Just as I ready to plot the robin's demise, Mom picked me up and brought me in for the night! What gives?! I almost had me some Robin Stew tonight. Mom's almost as pesty as that robin sometimes!

Humph! Yesterday Was My Birthday...

Why can't I be treated like such royalty everyday? I'll tell ya, I got loads of kitty snacks and catnip toys and even a sprig of real catnip to grow in my garden! Today, NOTHING!!! What's up with that? I tried to tell Mom about my displeasure by clawing her leg this morning, and all I got was a pet and "Good Kitty!" Plus she told me that we're adopting a new Siamese kitten soon! What for, is what I'd like to know!!!! Competition for kitty snax is how I see it! I'll show that kitty who's da boss in a hurry! Well, I'm feeling a bit grumpy so I'm gonna go take out my frustration on the dogs....or maybe I'll go catch me that robin....."Hey Mom! Can I go outside?!"

My New Little Siamese Sister aka Pest Extraordinaire!

My Mom brought home a new feline sister for me. She's a wee-tiny (I think maybe she's an overgrown flea!) lilac point Meezer kitten named Pixie. She has a very big mouth, and she used it to hiss at me when I first met her! I couldn't believe the nerve of her! She thinks it's OK to play with my toys, too! Humph! I'm getting a little better with her Mom says. It's going to take some time for us to warm up to each other. I think maybe I'll put some frontline on Pixie and see if she really is a cat or if she's a flea in disguise! I better go get me some catnip - this has been a very stressful week-end so far, and it's raining so Mom won't let me go out to catch my robin! I need my kittynip fix, Me-NOW!

Well, It's Official...Pixie is a Kitten, Not A flea!

She makes entirely too much noise to be a flea! She's the loudest cat I ever heard!!! Mom says that's what makes Meezers special. She also told me that I'm special, too....I'm her first baby!
The robin's been teasing me today, and Mom didn't let me out to see him! Grrr! But I watched him intently through the window and planned his demise! Just you wait little robin.....

Yummy, yummy, yummy...I got catnip in my tummy!

Mmmmmmmm! I love my catnip plant Mom got me! I get to help her with her gardening by pruning that plant all by myself! It makes me so happy that I roll in the dust and turn myself brown! Mom laughs at me and brushes me off really good before she lets me come back inside. The dust was really a disguise to keep Pixie from recognizing me! She can be a pest sometimes! Well, I better go sleep off this catnip buzz! *YAWN!* Happy cat-napping y'all!

GUMPY-MAN THE SUPER-HERO!!!

My Momma is taking a vacation this week from work! That means she'll be at home with me all the time!!!!!! Yesterday I even got to help her in the gardens outside. It was so much fun, and I almost had me that robin! He was busy with a worm, and I sneaked up on him...he saw me at the last minute and flew away! Drats! I need kitty-wings! I'd be like a kitty super-hero! Saving the world from pesky birds, one robin at a time!!! Mom says I love catnip too much, though and she'd have to revoke my flying license for flying under the influence! MEOWWWWWWW! Mom, maybe you should go back to work, and leave super-heroing up to me!

My Leap Of Faith

OK, so I got desperate! Mom wasn't being very good at letting me go outside to chase my robins. She always has some kind of excuse like it's too hot or it's raining or something! I was getting way frustrated because I can see the robin population exploding right before my very eyes as I watch life on the outside through the windows from the inside. Anyway, we have a screened in back porch that Mom lets the pets go out on during what she calls "inclement or too hot weather". So I was very, very sneaky and pushed and pushed on the corner of a screen until it came loose. Then I jumped many feet to the ground to sweet freedom! All of the robins were beckoning me and the sun felt so nice on my fur...it was heaven I tell ya! All of a sudden as I spot a nice big fat robin, I see Mom coming around the corner to drag me back inside! NO FAIR! She made sure all of the screens are more secure to prevent me from making future escapes. I must hatch a plan to secure my freedom again. If it weren't for Nikki barking and throwing a fit after I jumped, I'd have been home free! Hmmmmm, this calls for some catnip to help me think.......Where there's a kitty-will, there's a way!

The Baby Birds Flew The Nest

For the past few weeks, Mom has been intently monitoring a nest that a pair of fly catchers made in our porch rafter. (I've been spying on them, too in hopes of making a fine Fly Catcher stew!) At first it wasn't very interesting. The parent birds would come in occasionally and sit in the nest. Mom said there were eggs in there...whatever! If it's not scrambled eggs or omlettes, I'm not very interested in just eggs! But then something amazing happened!!!! Two little baby birds poked their heads out over the top of the nest! Their eyes were closed and they had little pin feathers on their heads...now we're talking! I would sit on the back of the sofa and watch the babies and parents for long periods of time, plotting their demise and thinking of good stew recipes...(a little catnip for seasoning....YUM!). The babies were growing everyday (the meatier the stew, the better I say!), then yesteday, the babies flew away! Momma bird sat a little way away and whistled and chirped until the babies flew over to her. Now they're all gone, and my plan is foiled! Hopefully they'll be back next year, so I can try again!

I remember it well! He's a big old sissy basenji! I had him snared like a mouse in a trap! Mean little dog, anyway! That's what you get for chasing my tail, bad dog! Mom also gave me some snacks AND catnip to unruffle my fur so take that creepy canine! ;)
