Arrival Story:
I met Sam when I met my husband, Frank, who had been her guardian at that time for 12 years. She reminded me of the cat I had named Mittens when I was growing up. She even made the same adorable "Err-rr" sound that Mittens made. Sam had a special trait, however -- she was polydactyl and had mitten-like paws with "thumbs". She was also a Torbie (tortoiseshell and tabby). The first time I met her I was visiting my then-boyfriend's house. Frank and I sat on the couch together and Sam was lying on the back of the couch with her paws tucked under in the "cat loaf" position. When Frank & I started kissing, Sam walked over and swished her tail right in my face. I'm convinced she was jealous, but she soon learned to love me as much as I loved her. She liked to sleep between the pillows on our bed at night, but the only lap she would sleep on was Frank's. I, however, had the honor of being the Giver of the Sacred Hairball Remedy every morning. I'm lucky that Sam lived such a long, healthy life since she was already 12 years old when I met her. I had almost seven years with her and I'm grateful for every one of them.

Bio:
Sam was a "big-boned" cat at almost 14 pounds. Before I came on the scene I don't think she ate much human food. However, somehow she got a taste of both salmon and chicken and became obsessed with them. After a while she came into the kitchen and meowed whenever we cooked anything, but she only went really crazy over salmon & chicken. And, of course, hairball remedy every morning.
