Favorite Nap Spot: It changes. On the cat tree in the basement or a couple different chairs.
Favorite Food: Likes most anything, not picky.
Skills: He likes to Mmmm a lot (a meow minus the eow). He also does a combination of a howl and a meow and then he'll blast off and tear as fast as he can through the house. He also will stretch out when I hold him on his back w/ two hands (about a 3 ft. stretch)
Arrival Story: My beloved Gumpy passed on September 12, 2012 and I wanted to get another cat, for Nadia and because I love cats. I had been looking at the Humane Society a few times and at an ASPCA adoption event. I thought I was looking for adult cats, though I had fun looking at the kittens while I was there. I wanted to take my time since I was still reeling from losing Gumpy, and for some reason little Andante caught my attention at one of my visits to the HS. His little face and eyes and semi-fluffiness were cute and he seemed gentle. He had four brothers and sisters who all had musical names (he was Andante, and there was Opus, Allegro, Sonata and Vivace) which was cute. I called about him the next morning and decided to put a hold on him (I wasn't obligated, but left a small deposit). I went back a couple times and I seemed to get some 'signs' that I should take him home. The signs were: one of the HS people walked by while I was by his condo (we have a wonderful HS which has some closet-sized rooms called "condos") and she said "he's one of my favorite kittens" and I talked to her for a while. She too had recently lost an older cat to kidney disease and we talked about that, and about my issues with not knowing if it was the right time. (seemed like a sign). It was very comforting talking to her and I cried talking about Gumpy. Then another HS person came by and said, "I just saw that little kitten yesterday and there is just something about him!". Another good sign? So Andante had his surgery and I decided to adopt him. I liked the name Andante, but started calling him Mister as a nickname, then that became Mist and it stuck.....There is always some angst when you see all the cats needing homes and I wish I could have taken home more of his siblings, but Andante and his siblings were fortunate to come to a fantastic animal shelter where nearly all of the animals find furever homes and get great care: the Humane Sociey of Huron Valley. I'm interested in adopting an older 'special needs' cat at some point - a cat with diabetes or another disease which another person may not be able to deal with, but little Andante has brought some goodness and lightness since the loss of my precious Gumpy.
Wowzers, I just got to be one of Samoa’s DITs and today my diary is a Daily Diary Pick! Mom had to explain what “DDP” means and it sounds like fun stuff! Hooray - my furst Catster award thingie or whatever it is. Thanks Catster Diary Picker! Glad I get to ‘sperience that.
Now to the GRRRRR part. I just found out this Catster place and fun stuff like this isn't going to exist anymore? SAY what? You mean I won’t be able to write in my diary and tell you my tabby tales? I won't be able to get to know many of you and have fun here?
Well, since you don’t know me too well, here's something inter-fur-resting about me: I don't growl. I never have, it's just not my thing.....But I’m going muster up a big GRRROWWWLLLLL at whoever decided to make Catster disappear soon!
GRRRRR from MISTer No Growls!!!
Mom is sad about it and it’s finally sinking in for her, and we’re sad too. I hope we can stay in touch somehow. Pawmail if you want to. There won’t be another place like Catster with it’s Catster Magic like Samoa & family say.
Well, I just had to put in some growls about this and I’m going to say Hello Goodbye...again. It’s fun to put videos here :) :(
Hi out there! I'm Mist, the little big bro of Nadia and angel Gumpy. I'm pretty new here and I haven't had a diary, and I was very sad when I heard this Catster place won't be around much longer. But I found out that I'm one of Samoa's Dreamboats-in-Training, so I decided I had to write in my diary, even if it's only for a little while.
It's fun to be a DIT, and I'm happy that I'm a Dreamboat along with my angel bro Gumpy! Thank you, Miss Samoa! You are a beautiful angel ladycat, fur sure.
