indoors

Arrival Story: Thomas was in a city animal shelter and was part of a group of kitties that was scheduled to be euthanized the day they were all rescued by some wonderful volunteers with an organization called Pets-n-People. He was placed with a foster mom, and brought to an adoption fair at Petsmart. He was a year old and everyone wanted a kitten so he wasn't getting much attention. I held him and it just felt right. My husband, not a cat lover, would not agree to us taking him and I cried in the car on the way home. I had always had cats all my life until I was in college and lived where I couldn't have pets. I had been married almost a year and was ready for a new kitty. At home, my husband felt bad for me and said, "Let's go get him." He is so handsome and happy. Even my cat-hater husband loves him now!

Bio: Thomas is very social and loves to entertain when we have guests. He is also quite a show-off when he has an audience. He is an indoor-only kitty but we will take him outside to play when the weather is nice. He is pretty well behaved as long as he gets his way, and is so brave that he is not even afraid of the vaccuumm cleaner.

Nearly a year has gone by and I haven't written in my diary. I've had lots to talk about but I just haven't stopped in to wright about any of it. Not sure why. I guess I just forget.
The holidays are under way. Yesterday was Thanksgiving but I spent it alone this year while Mama and Daddy went to my grandparent's house, then my aunt's house to eat. My grandma sent a bag of treats to me with Mama but I didn't like them. I'm kind of picky like that and I don't really care.
My parents went on vacation last month for 9 days. It was a long 9 days! I had a really nice catsitter who came to see me everyday. She took me outside, brushed me, made sure I had food and water. I liked her a lot. Then a few of our friends came by to see me, that was nice. I think my favorite visitors were my uncle Mark and Aunt Natalie. They played with me outside, played with me inside, brushed me, and gave me lots of attention. They have 3 kitties of their own but they didn't bring them to my house, thank goodness. I don't need anymore kitties around my house. The ones that come play in my yard are annoying enough. Anyway, because they have their own cats, they know how to have fun. I wish they would come over more often.
Another fun visitor was my Aunt Tammy. She brushed me, let me outside a lot while she smoked, and she even stayed an entire night with me. It was nice to have someone to sleep next to because I was really missing my mom.
Mama had the day off today but Daddy had to work. He is home now taking a nap so Mama and I have to be quiet so he can sleep. I don't think they try very hard to be quiet when I'm taking a nap. It doesn't seem fair.
We are almost ready for Christmas. Mama has presents in her closet waiting for Daddy to wrap them, then she will put pretty ribbons and bows on them. The ribbon is so pretty and shiney, it's hard to keep my paws off of them but I do my best. I'm waiting for them to put up our Christmas tree - I love it. I'm not allowed to climb on it but it's nice to take naps under. Christmas is fun.
I'm not going to promise that I will write here again soon or anything. I'm a busy kitty, you know. I've been hoping to make Cat of the Day soon. If I do, I will definitely post a "thank you" to Catster on here. Hint, hint: Are you reading this Catster people? I would make a great Cat of the Day. Or even better, Cat of the Week!

My parents put up a really fun looking tree but they won't let me climb it. I tried it once and the tree shook a bit, knocking off the angel on top. Mom caught me and made me get down. She had an angry face, and since I rarely see her make that face at me, I decided not to try it anymore.
Underneath the tree is a pretty tree skirt with presents all over it. Mama saved a spot for me on the tree skirt so I can take naps on it. It is right in front of the window where nice sunbeams come in and keep me warm. I've been really good about the presents, I haven't touched any of the bows or ribbons. All of this good behavior is tough for me but it is the Christmas season and all so I thought I would give Mama a break.
I've been spending my days watching fishies and taking naps. Daddy will let me go outside once a day but it is too cold so I go back in after only a few minutes. Mama was right, I'm not used to the cold like those stupid cats that come play in my yard.
Other than that, we have been pretty lazy around here. Mama has a lot of days off for Christmas so she and I have plans to do some organizing around here. I'm a good helper when it comes to that. I like to lay across any papers Mama puts down, that way she won't lose anything. Cleaning closets is fun too. I can find all kinds of things to play with, clothes to lay on, shoe strings to chew. It's going to be great!
Don't know when I will write again but if you are reading this, thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to leave me a treat while you are here.

While Mommy is eating her nasty oatmeal for breakfast, I thought I would write a little in my diary.
Things have been okay here. I have had problems with cats playing in my yard again. There is one that come over everyday. He is black and white and really fuzzy. So Mr. Fuzzy Butt will come over acting like he lives here, taking naps in the grass and peeking in the windows. He even has the nerve to come right up to the window when I'm trying to watch birdies. It makes me mad because he distracts me. I have to hiss and hit the window with my paw until he goes away. Mom won't do anything about it, as usual. She says he is a nice kitty. Nice kitties don't spy on people and take over their yard.
Plus, it is not fair that he gets to play outside and I don't. Mom won't take me out there because it is "too cold." It's too cold for her - not me. If Mr. Fuzzy Butt can handle it, I'm certain I can too. I'm going to keep bugging her on that topic and hopefully she will get tired of me complaining and just let me out - it has worked for me in the past. Even though I have to wear that dumb harness, it's better than being stuck inside all the time.
But good things are happening too. We are getting ready for the weekend because we are having guests. My Aunt Tammy is coming with her husband and their 6 year old kid who makes me nervous, but I'm getting used to her. They are nice to me. Tammy gets to go outside a lot and smoke cigarettes and she takes me outside with her - even when it is cold. Mommy lets me because Tammy watches me. And that is why I don't buy Mom's excuse about it being too cold for me to go out. If I can go out with Aunt Tammy in the cold, then obviously it is not a big deal.
Probably next time I write it will be about Thanksgiving next week. My Aunt Tammy and her family will be back that day along with Daddy's 3 other sisters, their husbands and kids, his dad and his wife. It is going to be packed in here, so wish me luck!
