My furever home!

You may have read my story on my page but if you haven't I'll give you the summary here.

I came to Mom through her clinic. Someone found me and brought me in. Mom and her staff examined me and found a scabby wound on the back of my neck. They shaved and cleaned it well.

Mom was debating on taking me to her home cause she hates seeing me go to the shelter. She said I was so furry cute, and that I'd be a perfect playmate for Blade. After talking it over with one of the staff she decieded to take me home. She wasn't nessicairly intending to keep me but I made my way into her heart through Blade. She says we are the best of buds and that Blade needs a good friend to grow up with. So Mom decided to keep me.

Mom was having the hardest time coming up with a name. She knew she could come on here and ask but knew that it had to be her choice this time. She went through lists of names and picked her favorite name 'Miles', but she also was thinking of naming me after her Oma's old cat 'Moppie'. Lets just say Mom was debating which name of those two names she should name me for about a week. She has decieded to name me after her Oma's old cat, although since she likes the name Miles too that will sort of be my second name or nickname.

I am loving my new home with Blade. We are having so much fun together, spending lots of time together. Blade plays a little rough and sometimes I squeak out because he is biting me. Mom doesn't know yet if that squeak means I am hurt because I do it some random times too just walking around. I love looking out the window, I will walk along the windowsill and go sit by the screen and watch everything thats going on outside.

When I came to Mom I was pretty shy. I will now go up to her but sometimes when she brings her big hand to pet me I duck out of the way. Mom will never know why except that I was out in the wild for some amount of time.

My scar is healing, but no hair growing back yet. Right now my poop is a bit soft, so hopefully there isn't anything wrong. Mom is deworming me just in case. Neither her or I are sure if I have worms, hopefully not by what the foster kitten here has gone through. But he was left until it was super bad and for me if I did it hasn't affected me yet.

We'll have to put up pictures again soon. Mom got a cute one today of Stewie, Blade and I all sleeping next to eachother on Mom's bed. Mom said it was so cute! She'll have to get them posted, but it will likely have to wait till tomorrow.

Vaccination Appointment set!

Mom has set an appointment for Blade and I to get our shots! Mom said the word Vet, I'm not sure if that is good or bad but from what I gather from all of you Vets are NEVER GOOD! I won't know until tomorrow but I hopes it will go okay...

Everything is going well here. I love playing with Blade. Mom says we sound like a heard of animals running through her room when we play. I love cuddling up with Stewie and also Mom. Stewie is so soft and nice to cuddle, he doesn't cuddle back but that is okay.

Moppie Miles

OMC, What is that?

Mom got this thing that spurts out water! What the Cat is that? Blade and I keep going up to it and then backing up in case it spurts us in the face, who knows what it could do. Its been a day now since Mom set it up and I have decided that the water from it tastes good so I just drink out of it. Blade hasn't really gone up to it anymore I think he is still skeerd of it.

Mom also went out and bought some cat grass! It is so yummy, we eat it, pounce on it, pull the grass out. It is in such a flimsy container that we keep pulling it over and moving it. I think Mom is frustrated because it is making a mess of grass and seeds all ofur the floor, MOL. She temporarily took it away and said she's going to re-pot it.

Its sunny out again today, and now Mom is all prepared with the air conditioner on. We aren't sure if it is hot but it looks like it could be.

Mom's been putting the foster kitten on craigslist and has found a few people interested. She hopes they are trustworthy people and will keep their promises. But she also knows it is probably best to find him a home sooner rather then later... It will be so sad to say goodbye.

1. Meow! Are you a noisy kitty or a quiet kitty?
I cry while Blade and I are fighting sometimes, sometimes because Blade plays a little rough and sometimes just to try catch him off guard. I meow the same way randomly sometimes too. Mom always hears Meowing when she leaves our room, I'm not telling if I am meowing or not. She knows Blade meows but isn't sure if I do.

2. Litterbox! Cover your business or let some other kitty cover?
Not always. If I don't feel like covering either Blade will or Mom will scoop it up.

3. Happy! Favorite Daily Routine?
Playing with Blade. Cuddling up with Mom and biting Mom's toes.

4. Hiss! Least Favorite Routine?
Nails. Being held against my will (being held at V-E-T to be examined).

5. Ding-Dong! What do you think about visitors to your house?
I am on the shyer side. I take Blade's lead at greating people who come into the room. But since we aren't let in the whole house yet I can't say for sure.

6. Friends! Do you like other animals?
Yes. Blade is my bestest buddie efur, and Stewie is Awesome. I love to cuddle up with stewie, he keeps walking away but I just follow him around.

We got our vaccines done last Sunday! I'm not a big fan of the V-E-T, even though Mom was holding me and the doctor didn't really touch me much I didn't like being restrained. I don't like being forced to do something!

I'm very cuddly. Which is a big change from when Mom first took me in. I would have never gone up to her on my own but now I go up to her to get all the pets I ever wanted! I purr and purr and she loves to pet me! I've also discovered that her feet are fun to bite. In the middle of the night if her toes are poking out I will go bite them, I also like to sneak under the blankets and find her toes-ies in the dark. I then attack them!!

Blade and I have made a game out of it!
- 5 points for attacking Mom's toes through the blankets (bed mice)
- 10 points for biting her toes if they stick out
- 15 points for making her yelp
- 20 points for sneaking under the blankets without her noticing
- 25 points for biting her toes under the blankets
- 30 points for making her yelp while we are under the blankets

Instant win for the one to bite, make her yelp, sit strait up and yank the blankets off. Only to find both of us cuddling up under the blankets by her toes.

It's a fun game. I'm winning too! We aren't as good as Simba at making up rules of games, but you've got the idea. Simba's games are awesome but we especially enjoy the game we made up!

I have made good friends with Stewie! At night or whenever he is in our room he is on the bed with Mom. I come sit with him and rub myself against him because he is pretty awesome. He gets up and moves and I follow him there and cuddle up with him some more. Sometimes he'll sit with me for a bit but usually he gets up and chooses another place for us to hang out. Sometimes he ends up crawling under the blankets or Mom will pull him under the blankets. I haven't found my way to him under there yet but I will!

Hopefully we'll get some more pictures up again soon. Blade mentioned in his diary that we got our trupanion tags! They are pretty sweet. I don't mind having it hang around my neck but Mom was mentioning getting a tag with our names on it too so I'm not sure if these tags will get too heavy, or in the way... They look cool though, as long as they hang the right way.

Sick, going to the V-E-T... needing purrs

Been vomiting and having diarrhea today! Threw up this morning a few times while Mom was asleep and then she was contemplating on taking me to the vet then but decided to wait, I threw up again last time Mom syringe fed me (7 hours after the last time). Till then I was keeping everything down, and I still am - to an extent. I haven't been interested in the canned food Mom has been offering me all day, she has been syringe feeding me to make sure I have food. She just offered me some of my dry food and I ate some of that on my own.

Anyways I haven't really been feeling like doing anything all day. I don't like this cage Mom put me in, I don't like to be trapped, she says its so she can monitor me while she is downstairs. Mom says I'm messing with her head because I seem to be a little more perky now, and since I ate food on my own it's a good sign. But she's still worried. Mom keeps telling her co-worker that she plans to bring me to the vet, Mom works tonight at 12am so she is starting to wonder if she should bring me in now or when she goes to work.

Anyways I'm just letting you know. Mom's stressed, and she isn't sure if it is bad to wait, she knows in some cases it can be very bad to wait, but since she doesn't know what it is she isn't sure. She's already waited this long...

Please purr, both for me to get better and to make sure Mom's head doesn't pop off from stress. Hopefully it's nothing serious and that I get better fast.

Update: 3:20am

I'm at the V-E-T's. The dr first wanted to give a medication to help with the diarrhea, Mom stuck this medication in my mouth. It made me throw up!! No meds for me right??

Well the dr and Mom ganged up on me and stuck me with a needle! Even one of Mom's coworkers helped hold me down cause I tried to squirm away. Mom says the needle is attached to Iv fluids and will be good for me. I see no way this is helping... At first it wasn't so bad but then Mom stuck a popsicle stick next to my leg so that the Iv would flow properly. Well now I am forced to sleep sitting up cause my stuupid leg is like ten times the size. I suppose you could call me peg leg today, MOL.

For now I'm on fluids, they gave me an injection for the diarrhea. They want to wait to see if I get better. If I don't I will have get blood work done. Maybe an x-ray too.

Update: 10am

We're home now! I am still super tired and lethargic. I was on fluids all night. Mom did x-rays on me during the night and in the morning the dr said since that treatment didn't work that we should go ahead and do bloodwork.

My xrays seemed fine. Bloodwork was fairly good. Nothing was too out of the norm. So the dr said it is either a foreign body which is possible but only if it were part of a toy, and it wouldn't be seen on x-rays. Or it could have been a toxin of sorts, which the only thing that could be is that Mom has been switching foods around a bit. She was trying to start us on our raw diet and it was going well for a few days, I'm not sure what changed. It was stuff Mom had was frozen for stewie for feeding raw, it all was good, but possibly in the freezer too long? don't know... Or it was sudden diet change, since you can't mix normal food with raw. Its hard to say.

Anyways I got a few injections so hopefully I'll get better through out the day. I sure hope I do. I'm sleeping all the time, and I really hate this cage Mom keeps putting me in... I want to go see Blade Mom!!

I still have my IV line in so that if I need IV fluids Mom can bring me to another vet to get it during the day.

On the bright side I have now mastered sleeping sitting up.

Update: August 26, 2011

Mom noticed my foot seemed to be swelling up. She decided to bring me to the V-E-T to either remove the iv catheter or re-bandage it. At the same time it wouldn't hurt to get the drs opinion of what is going on.

Mom and a dr I have not met took my temperature and I have a fever! 39.5, which high normal is supposed to be 39.0... The dr wants me on fluids again throughout the night. He told Mom she could take me home with fluids but Mom decided to leave me here because otherwise I won't be on a set rate, and medications would be available if needed. So they set up my IV again.

Mom and the dr were talking after it was all set up so I fell asleep. When I woke up she was gone!! She left without saying goodbye to me! Now I am here without her, I've never been without her before....

Note from Mom: It hurts me to have to leave him. I would have loved to say bye, but I had to tear myself away, walking quickly towards the door with tears in my eyes. It's one thing being with them when their sick but having to leave them when they are sick feels like one of the hardest thing I've ever done... I hope he gets better soon because I'm not sure how long I can take this.

Still Sick...

I'm still sick. I just got home from the vet again. Please read my last diary if you haven't already. I have no good news, and my bad news is that I'm no better...

Mom went to pick me up and saw my paw was swollen up HUGE!! The dr didn't even notice. This is the main reason Mom brought me in last night for and they decided I needed more fluids. Anyways Mom is pissed at the dr for not doing anything about it, but of course she won't say anything cause that's just the way she is...

The dr told mom to wrap my IV (keep it in) in case I need more fluids later on today. Mom said my paw is swollen and that she doesn't want to leave it in. He said okay, but we'd have to re-do it later if we put him on fluids again.

I'm still lethargic. Mom hasn't tried to feed me yet. I had diarrhea 5 times throughout the night. Now Mom says she has medications to give me at home, so hopefully (cross your paws) that it will help me too.

I will be updating this diary periodically throughout the day as I did with my last diary.

Update: 3:40pm

Had my medications at 1pm. One of the ones last time made me throw up, and I licked my lips and felt nauseated but didn't throw up this time. I've still been having diarrhea. Mom has me in a cage in her room and I've just slept the whole day. Blade wants in my cage too and keeps swatting me in the face, especially when I try eat, MOL. Mom said she'll let me out with Blade before she goes for work to see more how I am, and will likely take me to work tonight just to monitor me.

Update: 2am

Mom took me to work again, this time just to monitor me cause grandma doesn't really know what to look for if I'm not feeling well. Plus grandma just had gotten home for work when Mom left for her work.

When Mom got to work she took my temperature, it is now back in the normal range. No fever for me!! Yay! Hopefully it doesn't come back at all.

I am eating and drinking fine. Still sleeping a lot but Mom says I look a little more perky then I did earlier. I still have diarrhea which is no fun...

I am now safe and sound at home with Mommy.

The meds Mom is giving me are HORRIBLE!! Is Mom trying to poison me? The medication she gives me makes me foam at the mouth for a few minutes and feel very nauseated, then it eventually passes. I should go hide under Mom's bed so she can't give me meds anymore.

I am purring and enjoying my petting time now, but I am not up to any playing though. Mom put me out in the room with Blade and I have to hide under her bed to keep Blade from finding me and trying to play with or attack me. I am now safe and sound in my cage... although I still would rather be out...

Please keep purring for me to get better, I'm not over this yet.

Good News!!

I am feeling so much better today!! If you haven't been around I have been very sick for the past week, since tuesday morning, maybe even Monday. I've been to the vet on IV fluids for 2 nights and a couple nights with Mom so she could monitor me.

I want to thank everyone who has been purring for me and for all the angels sprinkling angel dust on me. That stuff really works!! Yes it did take a while for them to kick in to help me feel better but I'm sure that if you guys weren't there it would have taken 10 times as long for me to get better! Mom wants to thank you too, this has been a super stressful week on her too, she is grateful for friends who understand and care about what is all going on.

So my last update I was still lethargic, diarrhea, and hiding under the bed not wanting to have anything to do with Blade.

Well today Mom took me out of my sick cage and put me with Blade and gave us two new toys! Well that got me felling better right away! I am now back in action. I'm not quite ready for Blade's roughhousing but we are having fun chasing each other around, oh how I've missed this. Oh and out BIG bowl of food Mom puts out for the both of us. Mom is going to keep us on this food for a while now. We like this food! - "Hey Blade, give me back my toy!!" - sorry I need to keep an eye on Blade or he'll steel my new toy for good!

I've got 2 1/2 more days of mediation. Liquid metronidazole - YUCK! and Famotidine. I can't wait till they are done, maybe Mom will stop giving me them if I am better?

Note from Mom: I don't think that's going to happen Moppie, LOL

Aww, Mom!! So unfair!! I think you guys should call the authorities, Mom is poisoning me with Metronidazole!! If you've had it you know exactly what I mean. What a stuupid medication... It should be banned. Lets see how the humans like it!!

Earthquake! Okay... so we didn't feel it.

There was an earthquake yesterday morning! Blade totally forgot to tell you guys last night so now I get to! Woohoo!
Okay, so no one felt it. The earthquake was a 6.4 and it was focused on the island not too far from here, but not many felt it over where we live. But, this is one of the bigger earthquakes we have had in our area, and aftershocks are possible. Okay so Mom doesn't think we'll have any but its a fun story anyways! We thought we'd share.

I'm feeling very good lately! Mom sent my records from when I was sick into the petinsurance company and already heard that they've received it! Okay so not a lot of what Mom payed will be covered because of the silly deductible but that is okay...

The toys I got after being sick have all been stolen by Blade. They are tons of fun to play with but he guards them and doesn't want me to play with them... I do every now and then but if he catches me he usually takes it. Mom told me she might get a few more when she goes out to that store again. Then hopefully I'll get to play with them a little more.

I never meowed a lot before but after being sick I have been meowing a lot more. It's fun! I enjoy going around meowing! Plus I get more attention that way.

Blade has been hogging Mom's attention though... Mom says all I have to do is come to her for pets but I think she should come to me...

Mom is thinking of bringing us in for our second vaccines soon, she had postponed it because I was sick but now that I am better she is thinking of it again.

Anyways that's all for now. We are having tons of fun running around! Mom has been letting the foster kitten in with us for short periods of time, she thinks that if we were gonna get what he has we would have already.

Anonymous Gift!!

I received an anonymous gift!! It is a giant fish tank! Since Blade has been hogging all my toys now I gots something to do! I'm lovin watching the fishy swimming back and forth! Thank you to the Kitty cat who gave me the anonymous gift, it was fury nice of you! I love it so much!

I also want to thank Sam for the awesome Pirate Gato he sent me! Thanks SAM! I love rocking with you on the Screaming Cat! It is so much fun!

Mom got some new toys for us too, so I have been getting a little more play time. But Blade still gowels at me even if we gots two different toys! Selfish much Blade? Oh well, I forgive him, I love him no matter what. And I gots this fishtank to watch now!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian furiends!! As well as to our other furiends although you your thanksgiving is a little later in the year.

Tomorrow Mom and Stewie are going out to a family thanksgiving dinner She says it is going to be lots of fun! This is Stewie's first thanksgiving (as well as ours) but we don't get to go with for dinner. Stewie says it is almost his Gotcha Day! October 24 is the day Mom adopted him, and she is so happy she did. We are too, MOL, he is fun to play with (and attack).

Mom has tried to make us a catnip toy! We love it! You should see Blade playing with it, MOL, he is very amusing to watch.

Mom got us some costumes from petsmart and will try to attempt getting pictures with them on again. But we don't like the hats very much, MOL. They are a little big on us since we are a bit on the smaller side so they come off fairly easy.

Sorry we haven't been around a lot. Mom must have hurt her back at work a few weeks ago and just isn't up to spending a lot of time on the computer. If there is anything going on that we should know about please p-mail us, we'd like to know! We are trying to keep up but we know we are missing things here and there.

Stewie's best Furiend Tux has traveled to Rainbow bridge on friday, Tux is also part of Zach andZoe's family. They are some of our best furiends, our first friends on both Dogster and Catster!! Please send some purrs to their family!

Yesterday Mom came home smelling all funny. We came up to her and asked her where she'd been?! She says she spent the whole day at a Rabbit Festival clipping nails, brushing their shedding fur and so on. It is a very busy event and Mom says she got Very hairy!! She said she did it last year and it is such a good experience. She brought home some toys for her bunnies. But, we asked her, where are our toys?? Apparently they don't sell cat toys at the rabbit festival! Although she says some cats are good friends with their family rabbits so maybe one day we will be too?! We haven't even met them yet!

Anyways we are off. Mom has got work to do. And soon we'll be eating like kings! MOL. (Mom just cut her catgrass plant again)
