My name is Jane (Janie). My family decided that I should do proper introduction for all of us and say something about our place of dwelling. They say that it's my turn now and that they all started Diaries, and so should I. So, here I am.
Me and my sibling John (Johnie) were named by our super daddy, who loves us so much, after his brother and sister. I think it’s cool. Mommy named the rest of us.
May’s name was misspelled on papers when she was a baby. She was supposed to be called ‘Mei’ because of her eyes being so beautifully oriental.
Amber (Ambie) got her name after a nice chestnut stone that mom loves so much. She says that Ambie’s orange in her coat is so deeply saturated with sunshine, just like Amber.
Midnight was called like that because of the dream mommy had just before she got her. [Mom said that when she woke up at midnight after this dream – she knew that we were going to have an addition to our feline family.] Midnight kept to her name further. She always follows mom and guards her in her sleep, but often just at midnight she wakes mom up for an extra kiss – what a silly thing to do! But that’s Midnight. I guess it’s just her thing.
I think mom is weird. But it’s okay. We all are weird in some different ways. It suits me fine as soon as mummy & daddy love us. And they sure do.
So far for our proper names.
See, we live in Zimbabwe and I want to say few things about our Country of dwelling from feline point of view.
(((For anyone who will have any questions, or sayings – please, welcome to post them in comments to any of my Diary entries or those of my family and we will take care in answering promptly.)))
In general, lifestyle here is not so bad for some of our kind. And I am not talking about poor stray cats. For strays life is hard everywhere.
In Zim there are couple of organizations that would rescue strays, like SPCA or a ‘Friends’ Foundation’. Here also there are no ‘No-kill’ shelters. If a rescued stray person is not adopted in a while – they kill him/her. But also I’ve never heard of places here like ones elsewhere that catch strays and kill them right away or the next day.
Here is the opportunity for me to share of the place I loved reading so much about. It's in America and if anyone is interested: here is the web address: http://www.cathouseonthekings.com/
I'm sure many know of this place, but for me it was awesome, because we don't have places like that here.
So, our rescue organizations catch strays and keep them for quite long while, looking after them well, even strays who are old persons. And they do their best trying to find homes for them. But they don’t keep them forever, if not adopted. They say they can’t afford it, whatever that means. They say they don’t get enough moneys donated, but ‘moneys’ is just paper, which smells horrible too – how can that be of any use?
In here we, felines are in quite a demand, because humans like to adopt a cat or two to solve their rat problems. Many places in this Country are very dirty and swamped with rats. That kind of life for sure wouldn’t be a nice life for us, because those humans feed cats very little and only with what’s left from their own eating, in order for cats to eat their rats. And sometimes rats are bigger than the cat itself. And, it's not always an easy job to kill them, so I heard.
Cats who are adopted by ratty humans die very soon, because they get sick. Ratty humans never take their cats to a vet-doctor, because they say that they don’t have those moneys. (Honestly, why don’t they just take a treat to a vet – vet could at least eat it with pleasure or share it with an assistant. And if ratty humans don’t have treats – still their table scraps should taste better than those moneys, I guess.)
I don’t know why rats like to dwell with such dirty and irresponsible humans! But they do. And humans don’t like rats’ companionship, so they get cats to kill rats. I guess it’d be okay chasing and killing a rat or two for fun. But to have it one’s only job and only food doesn’t seem right to me.
See, I like to kill bugs only – some are very tasty. May and Johnie like occasional bird. None of us met any rats so far. But I think I’d love a taste of a field-mice if I found one. I heard others say it is good food, tasty too.
For luckier of us, felines of Zim – there is another organization here which is called ‘The Word of Mouth’. It’s not really an organization, but some nice humans combine their efforts in finding good homes for us.
These humans don’t talk about moneys and they make sure that we get good food and care before we are adopted by loving families.
I guess that kind of human goodness exists all over the Universe, thanks for that!
So, I and my brother Johnie were lucky. We did not get to know the life of homeless or the life of rat-catchers. Our stray mother was very wise and she brought us to human care when she, herself, could not care for us anymore. (She died soon after, so our human mommy was told – we know of the fact because we understand when humans talk or think.) We were two weeks of age at the time of adoption and not starved. Mother chose well. Human lady cared for us and found us a good home.
Our mommy posted detailed story of us in Diary of my adopted sis May as per her request (her first entry) for anyone who is interested – THE TALE OF HOPE’ it’s called.
The five of us don’t complain about our life. We live in a big ground spacious house with cool veranda and large yard. There are trees, shrubs, rocks and lots of soft grass! Grass is watered in hot weather, bringing us some relief from heat. Most of the time that grass is cut short, but point is made to leave some patches not so cut for us to be able to nibble on fresh grassy shoots.
And of course there is a swimming pool there! No, we don’t swim, but it’s fun to fish out bugs, leaves and occasionally even frogs from there.
Some of us also go to one next door neighbor’s yard, which is huge. They got no dogs and no cats there. So, we consider it ours. Neighbor doesn't mind us and mommy introduced us to him. But, anyways, we don't disturb them and avoid them seeing us. Though, I myself like to show off to humans, but when they are not our visitors, I try to stay un-noticed by them.
But that as far as it goes. We don't go further, because mommy very politely asked us not to, and she also explained to us all the dangers if we venture far from home. If she doesn’t see at least one of us for half an hour – she goes around the yard, calling our names and we have to come back, because if we don’t, mommy gets so sick with worry, and we don’t want her being sick. So, we always respond.
When mommy and daddy both have to leave for a short while – we all get locked in the house. No matter, we are used to that. We come inside when mom thinks to us that she must go to work and daddy (he works from home) needs to go see a customer or so for a short while. We just come and while they are away – we sleep.
It’s good in our house anyways. We got lots of toys and cat places all over the show in there. So, all doors and windows are locked for that time that we can’t get out by mistake. And fans are running so we stay cool in a hot weather.
What else about our life? I think we are not so bad off, we like it. We don’t know lack of food, nor lack of attention and love. Mommy always goes with us into the yard in the evenings, when it’s not so hot for us and we are active.
She plays with us by the swimming pool and by the shrubs. She even attempted climbing a tree with us once – didn’t get far, though. But it was fun.
Imagine our big mommy on a tree!!! Ha, ha, ha!!!
She also is greatly amused and happy when we jump around, chase each other and do tricks – she makes delightful noises and tells us how clever we are.
Humans are so silly! It’s so easy to please them! Daddy is the same, even better. Sometimes all it takes is to get into his in-tray in his office or in his chest of draws and stretch on top of his files. Then he exclaims: ‘’look, look, look – what a goofy cat! Check out where she is!!! She’s being my secretary again!’’
But we like it. We like being appreciated and loved.
So, this is about all I can say for now.
(((Love & Light to all fur-people)))
With meowiest respect to all of you

Holly-Jolly momma Nature!
THAT was awesome!
Our rain season started and it's the first one in our lives.
Here in Zim with good rain come these Flying Ants. But they don't just come. They appear out of nowhere one by one and then gazillions of them fly to the lights and flap around until they fall and start crawling around, losing their wings. If not disturbed - later they become termites.
These flying ants can be in average the size of my ear - that is without wings. They differ in size. They only come after rain in the evenings.
They only come if there is light to attract them.
They keep coming only for as long as an hour and then it all stops.
They all drop down and end up in Mia's tommy.
They are harmless and soft. They are very tasty to eat and it's good protein. African humans even pick them, take wings off and fry them in oil with onions and eat them too.
But boy-oh-boy they are so much fun to chase!
See, when they started coming one by one - we all went mad...
All of us were jumping and dancing around catching them. Mia was so funny jumping high to get one and then another.
But then when the whole lot of them came - we got a bit confused. Which one to catch? They are so easy, and they are all around our faces and tails. Then we got hang of it and just swatted them one by one. Mia got busy eating them, following us, because we just kept swatting them down to the ground and floor for her.
So, mommy was very pleased, because Mia with our help cleaned up all the place - only wings were left for mom to hoover-up.
Mommy was so excited watching us - she even went out and started photographing. She had to jump around though, because those things were all over mommy too. But she managed to get some shots.
After all was over - mommy told us that it will happen with every rainfall until the rain season is over and we will get used to it.
Well, I don't know about that - it was just way too much fun and we can't wait till the next rain.
That's all for now. I wish that all purrs could share such fun with us.
Love & Light to everypurr.

What a wonderful surprise I got!!!
I totally need to share this or I will burst!!!
I have been chosen to be a finalist in The 5th Annual World's Coolest Dog & Cat Show 2009!!! In the category 'Stretch & Yawn'!!!
HERE I GO
Please vote for me here
I am so excited that I decided to put this photo up as my primary pic!
I want to give HUGE thanks to everyone who voted for me!!!
We voted for every entrant on this cool contest too.
But I never thought I will go as far as to finalists!
We entered the contest somewhere in the middle of the show and never asked anyone to vote for us. We just didn't know.
See, the credit that me & my cousin Serik are finalists is not entirely ours. We had a lot of help from very kind fur-people who voted for us nevertheless. But especially I want to thank our 'manager' - our dearest furiend Pigeon for helping us on with his good advise of what to do.
I didn't even think to post a diary about being a finalist, or to change my primary photo, which is super cool thing to do!
So, here is goes - and I am dancing with Joy, and my whole family and our all friends are so proud of me!!!

Hi all furs.
I won the Noun Hound Clues from Little J.!
with the correct answer: Oncilla (Leopardus tigrinus)
See, Little J. won my bro Johine's clues after Johnie won his!!!
So, I quickly went and read the Clues from Little J. before Johnie did.
And I WON!!!
He gave me such a fabulous prize, that I absolutely had to put it on my page! Check it out there!
Here are the original Noun Hound Rules for this game Created by Balto!:
Here are Balto's rules to this cool game: Quoting Balto:
" I am going to describe an animal and you guys will e-mail me giving guesses about what animal it is. When some one guesses right then I will post it on an ENTRY. So on so on. Has to be at least #4 discription."
Now - I am the one who is so lucky to pick the next animal and write up the clues.......
But, I'm going to forward my turn. See, in three rounds of this game none of dogies have participated. I want to see what they still can do.........
I am forwarding my turn to DUKE! - a dog that I personally like a lot. And I love the tunes on his page too.
So, please Duke - make it go again and have dogies guess!!!
Mia is slobbering in anticipation, but she doesn't want to start, though I offered it to her first.
I hope you accept Duke, cos if not - I'll have to forward it again.

I'd like to tell you a story about my father.
To me it's not a nice story and I wish that my father had a loving home. But it seems that he doesn't.
His name is Jack (maybe it's not his name, but my human mommy thought she'd name him anyways, though she didn't get to see him yet).
Jack is a very large beautiful cat. Our cousin Serik saw him more than he'd wish to. See, Serik lives with our human Granny (his mommy) at the place where I and my brother Johnie were born. And this is a territory where Jack roams.
So, my father is the same color as I am but his fur is short like Johnie's. He has one green eye and one blue eye. And he gave me the blue eyes and to Johnie - green eyes. Okay, that's cool.
But for our cousin Serik it's not fun, that our father is there. Not fun at all. Shame, we feel so sorry for Serik, because Jack didn't take kindly to Serik's appearing there. Jack didn't like that there is another boy on his grounds.
Though granny's house and yard are Serik's and not Jack's, but Jack used to go there to look for girls. And our mother when she birthed us - she brought us to granny's house too and put us on her daughter's bed (mother died few days later). So, maybe she did that, because that's where she met with our father - on granny's grounds.
Jack is a Tom-cat. If he has humans - they didn't care to neuter him. But we don't know, maybe our father is a stray. Serik says though, that he looks too good for a stray!
We don't get to see our cousin Serik at all - Sigh...
Not after what Jack did to him, anyways. All we get is talking to our cousin on a 'kitty-phone'.
See, some months earlier Jack introduced himself to Serik by trying to let him know who is the boss of the territory. And Serik was a bit hurt (not to worry, he is all right now).
Though, on their first meeting Serik lost one claw on his hind foot, and on a second meeting he was bitten on his hind leg and Jack lost quite a bit of his white fur on granny's veranda - this second time Serik stood his ground. That was couple of months ago. Now Serik is not a small kitten anymore and he also knows times when Jack is most likely to come around, so he just sleeps in the house with his mommy at night instead of venturing out like we do.
So, since then granny says no-no-no... for him to come over and see us. I guess humans have their reasons too.
Cos it's probably me granny doesn't trust - I'm just like my father in character. I'm the biggest trouble in the family and I'll fight anything that comes near my place of dwelling.
Even my bro Johnie is no match to me! Though, he is always behind and watching over me like my bodyguard! Johnie is a very gentle person by nature, and I don't think that granny ever thought that he would ever go for Serik.
But I wouldn't go for Serik too, cos he is family. And I love my family and will protect them always. But granny doesn't know that.
Though Serik comes first, but we also feel sorry for my father Jack.
I think that Jack started coming around again because of George.
George is 13 year old female cat. Though she is very beautiful, but she is old and spayed. She lives with granny's new neighbor and she is also Serik's play-pal. Maybe that's why Jack is coming around. He's been to see George and she didn't like his company. But she likes Serik's company. So, maybe that's why Jack got angry with Serik.
This neighbor is a game guard and not at home for days, and granny then feeds George who stays around and plays with Serik.
So, that neighbor offered to catch Jack and take him far away and release him in a bush somewhere. Granny said okay, but my mommy and daddy asked that if they caught Jack - please don't do that, but give him to them and they will find him home, because no other neighbor recognized Jack to be theirs by given description.
So it went on and on, but Jack is too clever and will never come near humans, not even for a bait... And he is still around.
But it seems that he left Serik and George be. Who knows - we'll still hear about my father perhaps...

I thought I'd tell you 'bout that strange and joyful thing that happened to me!
Once in the year 2009 I was a bit bored and just went browsing Catster, and I saw a link! That link quite interested me and I went to see what it was!
It happened to be THIS! - click on THIS!!! And it's free to enter!
This was in 'ads by Google' on a right side of Catster page I was doing my browsing.
So, I got curious and entered one of my photos there.
THIS IS A PHOTO OF ME I submitted in there!
And guess what - shortly after that my momma got an e-mail from them that they want to publish me in a World's best photography Anthology Hard cover book and I WAS CHOSEN!!!
Mom then confirmed that they could publish and I was in that book for 2009!!!
In a new year Momma got another e-mail and they said that I was also chosen for the same book of 2010!!! So, I got in there too!
Yesss, I love climbing and I love posing. So, some others thought that I am cool too!!!
They also said on the e-mail that if I win some prises they will let us know!!! But.... no prises so far. I think that it's because we live in Zimbabwe.
So, the reason I wanted to share this with all furs in here is cos you guys have such great photos of yourselves. And you live in America mostly. So, why don't you try?!!! Do that, try this link and enter, and see - maybe you can also become famous in the World's Book and plus maybe your human family can win nice prises too!!!

I know that we have not been around for a long time.
But if anyfur still cares to pop by - Please could you help and purr for our cousin SERIK.
Yesterday he came home and wasn't himself. He started to have some fits and loss of use of his legs for periods of time and he was in pain.
He was rushed to the Vets and they could not find anything wrong with him.
So, in the evening he became much better, was eating well and running around again.
But fits are now repeating more frequently and he cries with pain. He can't sleep, because as he relaxes - the fits start and pain comes with it.
Now he is in hospital sedated, and docfurs are doing all sorts of tests to find out what is wrong with him.
My mommy and Serik's mommy and human sisters are crying their eyes out.
I'm just asking if anyfur could send some healing energy in thoughts for Serik, so that he feels better and has more hope at full recovery. He was never a sick kitty before.
He had been in couple of fights as a kitten and he has all his vaccinations, dewormings and other important stuff up to date.
Thank you upfront for your help.
Love & Light
Janie and family.

Yesterday I caught my first mouse!
The first prey I caught ever!
Ironic - isn't it? ME, JANIE, who doesn't like rats and mice to catch!
Well, I caught it. I played with it and I growled at everybody like Johnie does. All other girls were watching me play with it and bite it. And then I got a taste of it and I was just about to eat it....
Then Johnie woke up. He came rushing at the sound of me killing that mouse. He got very interested and no matter how much I growled at him, Johnie just came and took it from me. I didn't resist him, I only growled because we are s'pose to do that. Then he started growling at all of us, batting the dead already mouse and biting it.
Others just watched. I went outside and lay on the veranda, slightly disappointed. But no way, I would not take it back from my brother. He is the mouser and thinks that all mice belong to him. So, I decided that I caught it for him to eat.
And boy, he ATE it in no time, not even tail was left, just a small piece of bowels with that mouse's waste in them, which mommy took and flushed down the toilet.
I then came and sniffed the place where Johnie ate my mouse and went to him and licked him saying that I'm not at all cross with him. Johnie is my loved brother after all, and he can have my prey if he wants to.
Well, that was that, but I'm still proud that I had my first catch!

Yes, I do alert my mom ever since I was about 9 month of age.
And now I'm going to be a two-year-old in January next year.
So, I have a bit of an experience in alerting my mommy to strange bad things!
Mommy said that she can trust me more than she can trust our doggies.
Whist doggies will bark at anything and everything, including answering other dogs bark in the neighborhood, we cats will not voice it if nothing serious is going on. I won't even bother if stray dogs are outside the gate, but Mia will go mad about them.
Mia does that to chase them away and tell them off because she sees it her job to protect us, her kitties from them.
So, at night, when it's our duty to stay alert and watch over our humans, and when I sense something is really wrong - I will go to my mommy's bedroom and I will paw at her and growl near her face. Most of the times that alone works. But if mom is asleep too tight, I call others who is available, and we rush to mom's bedroom with some quiet meows and start growling together. Then there is no way mom can stay asleep.
So, last night there was someone lurking around outside our property, it was some of those bad humans that like to go in during the night and steal things and hurt dogs.
Our doggies were barking for a while and then they started whining, but mom doesn't pay attention to them anymore. So, I rushed into her bedroom and started growling, going to the open window and back on her bed.
Mom had to get up and go see around. Daddy wasn't at home.
And when daddy is not at home - we help mommy extra time watching our place.
So, mom detected some humans making funny noises by the gate, that were districting and confusing our dogs: Mia and her pal old Sasha. Then mom came quietly to the gate with a huge stick and started bashing it at the gate, screaming at the same time. Thieves got scared and pushed off. Most of the thieves around here are cowards.
Well, I'm so proud that we can help mommy in such situations.
I, personally alert mommy when Mia barks for something serious too.
Then she pays attention.
