Ah yes, I'm the Wizard of Oz, and I'm supposed to help Dorothy get back to Kansas!
So where's the hot air balloon?

Like the gentleman I appear to be, I will be happy for Melody for being the Diary of the Day while I sit below her in Diary Central as a diary pick.
I think this was a reminder that the boy cats are outnumbered by the girl cats in this Land of Oz that we're living in!
Thank you to Catster and my pals for your messages and gifts. If I could find my hot air balloon I'd pick you all up and take you to Kansas!
Love,
Wiz

A friend told me that I had the face of a fierce lynx but that I also look sweet. MOL!
Maybe she heard that I give my parents dirty looks when I don't think they are showing me enough love but behind my demands is a very sweet and affectionate kid, if I do say so myself!
Mercy wrote about having her mouth swabbed and that I got mine swabbed right after her. Actually, all of us have now experienced the swab and we all did okay considering it was our first time. The taste of chlorophyll isn't too bad at all!
I'm gonna go back to practicing my fierce lynx look now.
Love,
Sweet Riley

Mom took me to see my vet yesterday to look at my mouth. Guess she saw something she didn't like when she was trying to swab my teeth with those dental swabs.
Going for a car ride is the only time anyone ever hears my meow. At home my meows are like a whisper, if that. My mouth opens and nothing but air comes out!
Anyway, while we were in the waiting room, Mom was chatting with one of the gals at the front desk about my vet, Dr. Wong, and how she was the vet that has been at that practice the longest. That's when the gal agreed and said that she was a fossil. Funny, she doesn't look like a fossil to me!
I was very curious in the exam room and was jumping up everywhere just so I could smell everything. My temperature, weight, heart, and lungs were all good. Then Dr. Wong looked in my mouth and smelled trouble!
I came home with some dental rinse to get swabbed with which contains different ingredients than the swabs we already have, and an estimate for dental work for about $1,300. The estimate included pre-op bloodwork. I'd better check my piggy bank to see if I have enough money!
My teeth don't seem to give me any trouble eating, but sounds like I might have a couple of teeth to leave the tooth fairy in the near future.
Dad joked that I have a potty mouth! I'm gonna bite him.
Love,
Riley

Saturdays are the best days for Mommy to take us for vet appointments, so I went and saw the Fossil yesterday at 8:20am. I could've gone last week for an 11:15am appointment, but because I was going to have my blood and urine tested, we could not see making everyone wait to eat that late in the morning! Even yesterday morning was hard and we were following Mommy and Daddy around waiting to be fed.
The technician came out to the waiting area to take me to the back room while Mommy waited. She went to see Mommy a little bit later to tell her that she couldn't get pee from me so had to wait for the Fossil to help her. She assured Mommy I had a bladder though and Mommy was glad to hear that! MOL
I wasn't the only one seeing the Fossil yesterday. Salem, Niki, Ricky, Cash, Cooper, Guthrie, Lauren, Squeaky, and Cocoa were going to be there too. Wait, no, I don't have any siblings by that name, but all those names as well as mine were on the Welcome to Our Hospital board!
When the technician brought me back to my Mommy, she said I was so good and was perfectly still. She also said when I go back for my surgery she was going to kidnap me. OMC...I not only have to worry about the possibility of having dental work done but I have to worry about being kidnapped too!
We're waiting for my test results and will go from there. By the way, Mommy cleverly talked to the Fossil on the phone the other day about costs, and managed to get it cut back by almost a third. I can't tell you the details because it's top secret, and it is not a private practice.

Riley

The vet called on Wednesday to tell us that my lab work looked great! Did you hear that...great! Blood is good, pee is good. We added a Felv/FIV test and that came back negative.
I won't call the vet the Fossil anymore since she was so nice to give me good news. Besides, she really doesn't even look that old! She said that she would honor the results and estimate for two months, and that she didn't feel there was a big rush to get my teeth cleaned. I don't have an appointment yet, as Mom wants to take that day off and has to plan for it, but I'll be sure to let my pals know when that time comes.
Love,
Riley

Dad brought me to see the vet early this morning to prepare for my dental cleaning. I cried a little on the way there and then he let me out of the carrier and I sat on his lap while we waited. The vet examined me and then I was left there.
My parents agreed to let them do some xrays and then the vet called with some bad news--I needed to get some teeth extracted. If I tell you how many you might faint, but it's enough for each of us to put under a pillow! Blame my parents for neglecting our dental care, or for not taking the vet seriously sometimes, even though the vet did say sometimes it's genetics.
Anyway, after it was all over, the vet wanted to keep me there until almost closing time so I could be monitored, but she felt I was recovering very well. When Mom came to pick me up, the technician came out without me and told her I was "happy" and that when she talked to me and stuck her fingers through the cage I closed my eyes and started purring and kneading, which is what I do with Mom.
Mom and I were so happy to see each other and I just stayed on her lap while she talked to the technician. They had decided earlier to have a pain patch put on one of my back legs, and I have some antibiotics to take.
When I got home, the first thing I wanted to do was eat, even though every cat wanted to smell me, but they must have felt sorry for me because they didn't bother me while I ate. Then I gave myself a good bath and Quincy came to smell me! When he did that, I rolled on my side and started playing with him while he nudged me with his nose.
I'm not tired, I don't need a nap yet, so I'm sitting around. I must be feeling okay , considering what I went through. Mom hasn't really looked in my mouth yet, so she can't tell you about my pearly whites but I'm sure I still have some left and a tongue, too!
That Tooth Fairy better bring her entire family over and Mom better be a good nurse!
Love,
Riley

I have been doing really good since my dental surgery. I'm back to kneading and biting Mom on her hands and arm for attention! Eating lots and enjoying my gum massages.
The vet called and left a message on the answering machine yesterday to check up on me but it wasn't until today that we called her back. While Mom was sitting on the couch talking to her this morning I was there kneading and biting her!
Last night when Mom tried to squirt the Clavamox in my mouth I jumped up so the cat bed got the antibiotic instead. Ooops.
I can have my pain patch removed tomorrow or Monday and I don't think we'll need to replace it. The vet said that we should flush it down the toilet because someone might steal it from the garbage can and use it!
Love,
Riley

Mom and Dad decided to remove my pain patch this past Monday. Dad asked Mom why she grabbed a big towel to wrap me in and she said it was because she had a feeling I was going to squirm and kick! Well, she was right!
Dad put on the gloves the vet gave them to perform the task. I started kicking right away but I couldn't escape the grasp of the Mom. I accidentally bit her hand and this time it wasn't a love bite, but I still couldn't escape! What do you expect when it felt like they were removing my leg, fur and all! Yeoowwch! Mom told Dad to stop a couple of times so she could calm me down, but they got it done.
That patch must've been stinky because it got flushed down the toilet. And to think I had something that stinky wrapped around my leg. No wonder Enzo was hissing at me.
Still waiting for the tooth fairy,
Riley

I got a time out today because I chased Pebbles around the house, up and down the stairs, and clobbered her several times while she let out bloodcurdling cries! My tail was all poofed up with excitement too. Mom finally caught up with me and put me in a time out in the bedroom for about ten minutes. When she opened the door, Pebbles was right outside and we just looked at each other like nothing happened.
Proof that my million-dollar mouth still works!
Love,
Riley
