Growing up shy and socially awkward, I always got along better with cats than people. As an adult, I've fortunately learned to communicate well with both species, but cats continue to be an important part of my life, trumping even coffee, spicy food, and the Kansas City Royals. Needless to say, I'm beyond jazzed to be blogging for my fellow cat people here at Catster.

What I Do for a Living: I'm a staff editor at a publishing company, as well as a freelance writer/blogger at a variety of publications.

What I Do for Fun: I read good fiction, write crappy fiction, travel to places outside the Midwest, and volunteer as a cat socializer at an animal shelter.

The Furry Members of My Household Are: Bubba Lee Kinsey, my handsome gray tabby, and Phoenix, my pretty calico girl.

My Favorite Things to Write About Are: Cats, obviously. Also anyone who feels passionately about what he or she grows, makes, cooks, plays, builds, etc.  

My Pet Peeves Are: Unnecessary capitalization; misuse of they're, their, and there; misuse of your and you're; backseat drivers.

My Guilty Pleasures Are: Law & Order: SVU.

What I Want to Be When I Grow Up: Someone with "done" hair and matching clothes who other people think "looks sharp." Either that or barefoot and living in a treehouse.
