Pirate’s Mama Chewed Off His Leg, But He’s Still Whole

I don’t want to have kids. It’s not that I don’t like kids — I love them! — just in the fantasy I’ve had of my life since I was a kid myself I always envisioned being Crazy Aunt Liz to my friends’ offspring. They would come hang out with me when their parents got sick of them, and then, when I got sick of them, I’d hand them back to their parents. See? This is awesome.

Also, probably, if I was a mama, I might try chewing off my infant’s leg — just like Pirate the cat’s mama did. Okay, I so totally wouldn’t do that, but, you see, some people aren’t meant to be parents! Just like Pirate the cat’s mama!

Pirate has only three legs. He was found that way in someone’s garden when he was only a few days old. Rescuers speculate that while trying to bite off the umbilical cord, Pirate’s mama accidentally took a paw with it, then got scared, and fled — because she was never seen again. Fortunately, however, Pirate and his brother Peg were taken in by Goldie’s Cat Rescue, who nursed the kittens every two hours. Sadly, Peg did not make it, but Pirate is still around on three legs. Look at this little charmer:
