Throughout history, cats and mice have been mortal enemies, as documented by Tom and Jerry and Itchy and Scratchy cartoons.

But in this crazy modern world, anything is possible — like this mouse cuddling up to a sleeping cat!

Young cats of today are trying to look past species barriers to create peace between themselves and mice and other historically prey rodents, hoping to gather around the campfire and sing “Kumbaya” as they hold paws.

Some older cats find the association of felines and rodents scandalous, while yet others think it’s just a phase as kittens progress through their college years, certain that they will grow out of it as they get older. The younger generation of cats scoffs at this, calling their elders “Speciesist.”

Hip young cats are even turning to vegetarian-friendly diets, citing evidence that it makes them feel better both physically and spiritually.

“It’s wrong to eat other animals,” said one young kitten as he shared a salad with a Chihuahua.
