Dutch electronic dance outfit Nobody Beats the Drum has finally done it. Tapping into the Internet cat video sensation and cats’ love of the laser pointer, its video for “Natural Thing” is, well, a natural thing. With clever editing and some minor special effects, the electronic track synchronizes the movements of multiple cats chasing a laser pointer with the driving beat of the song, creating a hypnotic effect that’s just too good to resist. There’s even an appearance from a ferret!

The best part is that the cats are just doing what they naturally do, which makes it a purrrfect concept for the track’s title. It appears as though the video’s creators simply filmed cats chasing a laser pointer in the exact same pattern, and then composited the footage to give the cats their layered, almost ghostlike movement across the floor. It might just be the crowning cat video of the Internet (at least for today).

We bet all the kitties were treated to a delicious can of tuna after filming, and we’re pretty sure they didn’t mind doing multiple takes. The video’s creators must have been very patient people — we all know cats only do what they want to do when they want to do it. Lucky for everyone, the cats were only expected to do what cats love to do: chase things. The result is an engaging video built around a very simple concept.

So put your dancing shoes on and get ready to move to the beat … or chase a laser pointer.
