Through March 31: Become a Veterinarian Camp Contest

Vet Set Go — the first and only community dedicated to aspiring teen and tween veterinarians – together with Merck Animal Health and VCA Animal Hospitals – is helping students pursue their dreams of becoming a veterinarian with its sixth annual Become a Veterinarian Camp Contest. The online essay contest gives sixth- to eighth-grade students a chance to win a spot at Auburn University’s Junior Vet Camp from June 26 to July 1, 2022 at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, one of the nation’s premiere veterinary schools. The contest starts Tuesday, March 1 at vetsetgo.com and closes Thursday, March 31. Contest winners will be notified on or before May 31, 2022. Three students will be awarded a prize package, which includes camp tuition and room and board at the Auburn Junior Veterinary Camp in Auburn, Alabama.

Through Summer 2023: Cats! An Exploration of the Felines That Occupy Every Aspect of Our Lives

This speCATular exhibition is all about felines and the way they have influenced our homes, our art and our culture. Come explore the countless ways in which cats inhabit our everyday lives. March 5-6: Get Your Cats to Route 66 Cat Show

Presented by Illini Cat Club, this CFA-sponsored show will feature seven Allbreed, three Specialty and 10 Household Pet rings. Takes place at Weitendorf Agricultural Education Center in Joliet, Illinois. Learn more here.

March 5-6: Long Island Pet Expo

Presented by Family Pet Shows, this pet expo is designed to educate and entertain the public about the world of pets. It features vendors, education and special attractions. For cat lovers, this year’s expo will include a TICA-sanctioned cat show hosted by Project Meow on Saturday and Sunday. Takes place at the Suffolk Federal Credit Union Arena. Learn more here.

March 5-6: Project Meow Cat Show

This TICA-sponsored show will be in conjunction with the Long Island Pet Expo at Suffolk Community College College Health and Exposition Center in New York. The two-day, alternative format show will feature 16 Allbreed and two Speciality rings. Learn more here.

March 6-12: Professional Pet Sitters Week

Started in 1995 by Pet Sitters International, Professional Pet Sitters Week honors professional pet-care providers who offer quality, dependable care to clients’ pets; educates the pet-owning public about the advantages of professional in-home pet care; and encourages pet-loving entrepreneurs to explore pet sitting as a career. This is a great time to give your pet sitter an extra thank you! Follow the week on social media with the hashtag #nationalprofessionalpetsittersweek or #petsitting.

March 11-13: Greater Philadelphia Pet Expo

Presented by Family Pet Shows, this pet expo is designed to educate and entertain the public about the world of pets. It features vendors, education and special attractions. For cat lovers, this year’s expo will include a TICA-sanctioned cat show on Saturday and Sunday. Takes place at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Learn more here.

March 11-13: TICA Cat Show

In conjunction with the Family Pet Show in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, this show is presented by Central Jersey Cat Fanciers, featuring a 20-ring alternative format show. Learn more here.

March 11-13: All American Pet Expo

This 25th anniversary will be biggest show ever, with all kinds of pet-related activities. Be sure to check out the All About Cats Expo, which will feature a cat parade, where you’ll hear owners talk about their cat’s breed; a Cats 101 area where you can learn all about cats; CatBoss, who will be there giving high-fives and teaching you how to get your cat to do tricks; cat agility; and a TICA-sponsored cat show with 250 breeds competing. March 18-20: Super Pet Expo

March 20-26: National Poison Prevention Week

This week focuses on educating pet parents on what can poison their pets, identifying the signs of poisoning and how to prevent it. It’s a good time to remember the springtime dangers of poisonous materials like plants, herbicides, fertilizers and pesticides. The ASCPCA lists many household products, foods and plants that can be toxic to pets. Visit the ASPCA Animal Poison Control website for information on how to keep your pet safe.

March 26: Cats KC Cat Show

Presented by Cats KC, this CFA show takes place at the 4-H Building, Johnson County Fairgrounds in Gardner, Kansas. Come see 150 cats compete in five Allbreed rings and one Specialty ring. Learn more here.
