Skeezix and I are sitting in the airport, ready to board the plane for New York City. The destination? A gallery opening sponsored by Fancy Feast and Friskies, in an exhibit of art by cat lovers made from recycled Fancy Feast and Friskies cans. I was one of the 60 artist applicants chosen to be in the show, so it will be exciting for me to not only see my own work in a SoHo gallery, but also see work by celebrities like Roberta Flack and Jennie Garth.
This Earth Day project was conceived as a way to increase awareness of the recycle-ability of Fancy Feast and Friskies cans. Selected art from the show will be auctioned with the proceeds going to the America the Beautiful campaign. The rest of the art will be installed as a permanent exhibit at Purina headquarters in St Louis, MO.
We hope to have lots of photos of Skeezix hobnobbing with celebrities in the Big Apple, including his very best Catster friend!
The public reception will be open at 21 Mulberry St (between Spring and Kenmare) in NYC from 10am to 3pm. It’s free, and my work looks like this. Please drop by!
