Two cat health organizations have jointly released new guidelines for diagnosing feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). The 2022 AAFP/EveryCat Feline Infectious Peritonitis Diagnosis Guidelines, published in the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery, provide veterinarians essential information to assist their ability to recognize cats infected with FIP.

FIP is often difficult to diagnose, especially when the cat has no physical symptoms of the disease. FIP is fatal when untreated.
