For those who love kitties and artistic renderings of them, they should check out the Twitter account of Wierex the Cat. Armed with an iPad and a drawing app, this amateur cat artist tweets lovely digital portraits of cats.
Followers post photos of their cats and, if Wierex’s interest is piqued, the person who posted the image will see a rendering of the cat. For example, the photo below is of a cat named Boyfriend.
Now here’s the artwork that resulted.
Wierex’s main passion is helping pets in need — you’ll notice that many of the cats depicted in the portraits contain a clipped ear, the mark of a stray or feral cat who has been fixed.
“I love to draw cats who are looking for a home,” explained Wierex, “hoping that perhaps a little digital portrait of a darling fluffy face will bring just a little more attention to him or her.”
Wierex believes every animal deserves respect and love.
“I truly admire all the wonderful people who work in shelters, foster, rescue, and find new homes for abandoned cats,” Wierex said. “They are tireless and amazing.”
