These incredibly cute kittens were snatched from the jaws of death after a worker heard their faint meows just as they were about to be crushed to death at a recycling center in Bath.

They had been tied in a garbage bag and tossed into a rubble bin. The bin was taken to Bath Waste Recycling Center, where it was upended onto a mountain of garbage. At the very last moment, a recycling worker heard the plaintive mews coming from the bag, just seconds before the bag was crushed in the jaws of a giant hydraulic grabbing machine.

Staff immediately stopped the machine. Receptionist Michelle Baker, 23, said: As soon as the meowing was heard, everyone got involved in searching for them. We found the stripy one and continued to search in case there was another. Then we found the second kitten.

I wrapped them in a jumper and held them over a radiator to warm them up.

The Cat Rescue Center in nearby Chippenham is now trying to find a home for the three-week-old brothers.
