Fashionable cats, cats doing yoga, even a famous cat or two — the 2013 crop of cat calendars has something for everyone, whether you are shopping for yourself or a fellow pet parent. These ten in particular stand out:
1. Luna the Fashion Kitty
The fashionplate and Catster columnist has a new calendar, and as usual, a portion of the sales price benefits the Helping Persian Cats organization.
2. Yoga Cats
While the cats in this calendar had a little digital help achieving the yoga poses, that doesn’t make it any less fun. Photographer Dan Borris donates 10 percent of the purchase price to animals affected by Sandy.
3. Lil Bub
You may not be able to handle 12 months of this cuteness. We wrote about this perma-kitten earlier this year and are still recovering. With every Lil Bub calendar you purchase, $5 goes to the Pets Alive Indiana organization and you get a Pets Alive calendar featuring Lil Bub on the cover.
4. Pets Rock
Luke Skywalker, Justin Bieber, Mr. T, Katy Perry, and Spock are among the pop culture icons depicted by cats, dogs, and other furry animals in this calendar. It delivers dates and other information in six languages — English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Dutch — making it an excellent gift for friends elsewhere in the world.
5. United Bamboo
Back by popular demand, the clothing company once again dresses cats in replicas of its runway collection for a calendar. FYI, the clothes — including the green tartan cat blazer and skirt shown here — are available for purchase on the United Bamboo website.
6. The Feral Life
The cats and the kittens of the Feral Cat Rescue Project modeled for the months in this calendar, which captures the real lives of these beautiful creatures. All proceeds above printing costs go toward helping these wild kitties.
7. Noosed Kitty
The best part about this calendar featuring the sadly sweet illustrations of cats by Jamie Fales? As the months pass, you can pull the images from the calendar and frame them.
8. CAT
Many local rescue groups create a calendar each year to raise funds. Support the continued good works of your favorite organization by buying one or two or three. This calendar comes from CAT, the Cat Adoption Team in Sherwood, Oregon, which celebrates 15 years of placing homeless cats in forever homes.
9. Cats I Know
Cats are a favorite subject for artist Kaori Mitsushima, who captures them in her lovely illustrations and drawings. This calendar features a year’s worth to adore.
10. Bad Kitties
With each month getting its own bad behavior — greed, envy, and conceit, just to name a few — this calendar celebrates the good times cats have being bad.
