Endangered Species Day is May 20, so why not whip up a batch of cupcakes to celebrate our big-cat friends? While playing around on the internet, my sister and I found these cute lion cupcakes and gave them a try.
First, we baked some vanilla cupcakes and frosted them with canned vanilla frosting tinted with yellow food coloring. Then we got busy using a decorating bag and tips.
For the faces, we used canned chocolate frosting and a round decorating tip. For the manes, we used the vanilla frosting tinted with food coloring to make a couple of different shades of orange, applied with a couple of different open-star tips.
The final touch: Cheerios for the ears.
It was fun and easy — each cupcake took less than 10 minutes to decorate.
