Arrival Story:
I was in the tree next door, and Tigger kept meowing to me. Mom got me to come down with food, and she fed me every day. I started to hide in her garden by the back door, and would meow for my pal Tigger. I started to follow them around when they came out for Tigger's walk. Mom is pretty sure that my cat mommy & sibling are at the rainbow bridge already, and she was sad for them. She was so patient cause she knew I was scared, then one day she asked me if I would like to come inside the screen porch! Mom said it was too scary out there for such a teeny kitten, and now I am getting all the food I want, and pets & scritches! I never had them before but they sure feel nice! I close my eyes & purr when I feel the lovies! I went to the vet & got a shot, but I tried to be very brave. A home of my own! No more hiding from the other bad cats and scary stuff out there! Mom says she will get me my own leash so I can take walks with Tigger! I get so excited when I see him, I start to knead the ground & mew like a motorboat. Everyone here has been so nice to me & they pet me and call me a good little kitty. I have a full tummy & warm bed. I like it here! well, I have a name, and I run through the house like a whirlwind. I ask nicely for my food, ok I scream at Mom till I get my food - and I love to play! I especially love to play with Tigger.

Smitty is still kind of shy, but he is starting to blossom. He has started to sleep at my feet at night, and will cram himself into the same box with Tigger for a nap. He has even started to seften up Maizy a teeny bit - I caught her playing tap paw with him the other day!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

I am the official spokescat for the family to send you all some Irish Blessings. Our humans are of Polish & Hungarian descent, but Momma has always ALWAYS loved St. Pattys & all things Irish. She goes all out, and hey that's ok! She makes soda bread & Guinness cuppycakes & Irish pub music is a blaring. And tonite we will watch Darby O'Gill & the Little People. All these traditions started when the human kids were small, and they stuck.
So me being the one with an Irish name, I get the day to be extra special! Mom is also starting to figure out how to put effects on our pics, as you can see by my nice hat & stein of catnip juice! (kitties can't drink beer) Have a wonderful fun day! Happy St. Patricks to all - and today it is purrfectly fine to be a wee bit Irish!

Well kitty wishes do seem to come true! Momma is still copying everything JUST in case something gets squirrely. But this is great news. I sure hope that anyone who had left will find out & come back. We will also still visit our friend Macy's forum - his Momma worked really hard to fix a nice site too. whew, sometimes it works my friends.....

hello & a Felix update - it's a biggie

Hello all. Well, not much goes on for me really. I am a good boy & I don't get into trouble. I make sure that Momma always knows the food schedule - I am like a clock & let her know if she is even 5 minutes late! I got a good sunspot yesterday. Momma said I looked all passed out & I was *blush* snoring! I had good dreams of birdies & food! Momma is getting sadder as the inevitable Catster end date looms closer. Then she got walloped with a bunch of bad news on Felix, which she will tell you all! I probably will have one more diary before Maizy's turn.

Hey all
Felix had full digital xrays yesterday. I was in with the vet for an hour going over everything. If anyone has any experience with ANY of this stuff, please give me a shout. Another bad thing about things closing is no more being able to do a search for things in the health section!
So here goes;
The right leg he had the luxating patella repaired, he must have been leaning heavier on that leg, so now the cruciate ligament is ruptured. Also his sesamoid bone is cracked in half on that leg. His left leg, has the luxation bad & also the cruciuate ruptured. His hips have gotten worse, and the femur is rubbing on the bone, so he needs the heads of the bones cut off. His front leg bone ends are showing some sort of mineral defect, probably genetic. The long bones of his front legs, the marrow space is very small - the bone walls are very thick. She mentioned possibly osteoptrosis, but that she had never seen that in a cat. His white cell count is low, either from the inflammation in those bones or that he has not much marrow space. I plain out asked her if I take care of all this, will he have a quality of life? I love him with all my heart, and I will do what it takes, but I also do not want to put him through things if it will not help him. I would have to make the hardest choice - he is not even 2 years old. She says that after the hip & knee surgeries he should be ok, not perfect (he is perfect to me!) and the front leg issues can hopefully be managed with diet & supplements and NSAIDS. Also he is very constipated from it hurting so much to try & go, and also prob cause he does not move much. So I have Lactulose & another med to help him go poops. She is sending the xrays to an expert radiologist/orthopedic vet, and also consulting with an internist regarding the mineral issues. My heart is breaking for my little pirate kitty. All I know is thank goodness that I have insurance & Care Credit, because I don't know what I would do. And on top of all this besides things closing here, while trying to prepare a bridal shower for my future daughter-in-law & their wedding in April. I am so sad...not about the wedding, just alot of stress!
