At Catster, you don’t have to tell us twice that cats are cool, and that even cooler than a cat is an adopted shelter cat. But — if you can believe it — there are still people out there who have yet to be converted to the exquisite joy of living with a cat, and, moreover, the immense sense of satisfaction that comes from rescuing a kitty from dire straits.
June is Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month, and the ASPCA wants to let as many people know as possible. In this day and age, what’s a better, more efficient way to reach a large audience? A viral video, of course — and the ASPCA has gone all out to create one hip video.
Teaming up with Good Morning America anchor Dan Harris and George the Cat, the video showcases George’s special Matrix-like talents in “HoverCat.” Since its debut this weekend, the video has been steadily climbing to the top of YouTube’s pet category, spreading its message of the importance of rescuing a kitty from a shelter rather than purchasing from a pet shop.
To keep the momentum going, the ASPCA is hosting a livestream event today (Thursday, June 14) starting at 7 p.m. EST with YouTube celebrities Jesse and Jeana, along with Dan and a host of adorable adoptables. Everyone is invited, and you can follow along with the ASPCA’s Twitter.
We love the effort — and we welcome you, fellow cat lovers, to keep it up by passing this along to everyone you know!
