Cat owner Kelley Abercrombie was having a business meeting inside a coffee shop in south Edmonton when witnesses claim to have seen two people take Dipity, Abercrombie’s grey, polka-dot-dress-wearing cat, from the parking lot outside and drive away with her. After canvassing the area, putting up posters and placing ads in local classifieds, Abercrombie was shocked to hear back from a man who claimed to be holding Dipity for ransom in South Africa.
From the Edmonton Sun:
“He claimed he picked up Dipity on the street and didn’t know what to do with her but to take her on the plane,” said Abercrombie, letting out a laugh. “He demanded thousands of dollars for her return.”
Of course, it’s more likely Dipity found herself living in an Edmonton household, and Abercrombie wants those keeping her to return the cat to its rightful owner.
Despite being microchipped and having Abercrombie’s name on the inside of her collar, Dipity remains in the hands of the kittynappers. Anyone with any information about the disappearance of Dipity is being asked to call 1-780-441-3506.
