Oddball, an adventurous UK cat who was missing for two months has been reunited with her owner, Clayre Milton. Oddball had snuck a ride on a bus to Liphook, Hampshire, where she took up residence at the The Royal Anchor pub. Once discovered, she was taken to the Haslemere Cat Adoption Centre, where a microchip scan revealed her owner’s identity.

The adventure began on November 2nd, when Oddball hitched a ride in a Hampshire County Council bus, which was parked near Clayre’s home in Rooks Mews.

The bus was packed with children’s play equipment, enabling Oddball to slip inside without being detected.

Clayre said: “It was a huge bus and they had the door open because they were walking backwards and forwards from the centre putting bits and bobs on the bus.

“She must have just hopped on when they weren’t looking. The bus then set off to drop the equipment off at schools around the area.”

When the bus stopped in Liphook, the driver noticed the stowaway. But before she could be captured, Oddball escaped, disappearing into a hedgerow.

In the meantime, Clayre was frantic over the loss of her cat.

She said, “I placed notices in the paper and put a picture in asking if anyone had found her. I asked around all over whether anyone had spotted Oddball and I went up to Churcher’s College and put posters up there.

“I had lots of people say ‘I have seen her’, but there is a cat that looks similar to Oddball who lives nearby. She had gone and I just could not believe it.”

Little did she know that Oddball had made herself a little vacation home underneath the floorboards at The Royal Anchor Pub in Liphook.

“If she was anything like her owner she would have gone to the pub straight away,” Clayre said.

Although she was somewhat malnourished, Oddball was deemed to be healthy otherwise, and only in need of a bath.

Clayre said, “It was a great feeling to hear the adoption centre on the other end of the line because I never thought I would see her again.” No word from Oddball on future holiday plans.
