Motzie, a 22-pound Hybrid Savannah Cat, is missing in East Texas. He Houdinied his way out of a hotel room Wednesday night by taking advantage of a door that didn't close properly.

He's a rare Hybrid Serval-Savannah cat, estimated to be worth $80,000, but the companionship he gives his owner, Deborah Ann Milette, is priceless.

"He's my best friend and my partner," says Milette.

Motzie has been Milette's constant companion for the last five years.

"He is a very unique cata very intelligent breed," Deborah explained, "I got him when he was 20 months old he's my personal service animal certified by the VA.

When Motzie got out, Milette followed him, and thought he went into the sewer.

Milette says Motzie had never run off before. She believes that traffic frightened him and he's too scared to come out now.

She called Jackie Lynch with Animal Control, who did the only thing she could do, "We went ahead and set a trap, and I actually had the owner put the food into a small bowl just so it will have the owner's smell on it, and hopefully, that will entice the cat more."

Motzie was spotted a short distance away after the trap was set, but he disappeared again.

For Deborah, it's like losing a family member, "He keeps my life saneI'm not moving until he comes back."

Anyone who has seen Motzie is asked to call Longview Animal Control at (903) 237-1290.
