Best Friends Animal Society! Yay to BF for taking in the Michael Vick dogs instead of having them put down.

Out of the ones listed, I chose Human Society, just because they are the one I'm most familiar with. Locally, we have an Alternative Humane Society, that runs a no kill shelter. I prefer to support the no-kill shelters whenever possible.

PETA, in my opinion, is a blatantly misogynistic organization that will exploit racism and sexism in the name of their agenda. As far as I'm concerned, they could disappear from the earth tomorrow and I'd cheer.

Best Friends Animal Society. For taking in abused, abandoned, neglected and un-adoptable animals and giving them a second chance at life. For nursing the sick ones back to health and giving all the animals security, comfort and love.

Cinnamon Trust (in England). They will care for your cats/dogs in your own home when you are ill, take the dogs for walks etc., then if the owner passes away will re-home them or place them in permanent foster homes! They are just brilliant and nothing is too much trouble for their volunteers.

I don't like any animal rights group that doesn't extend the same compassion it does to chickens, cows, elephants, and apes to shelter animals and feral cats. They don't support No Kill, they've been reluctant to support TNR. I'm a vegan, and a former supporter of these groups. I've given a lot of thought to my decisions regarding these groups, as animal rights plays a huge role in my life each and every day.

Who do I like best? Maybe Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary. That's animal rights. PETA & HSUS = welfare.

In the Uk I support the RSPCA, we have had the pleasure of adopting Rhea from there when she was 16 weeks old dumped at their gate in a box.

She gave us the most amazing 9 months and is still greatly missed in the 11 months since we lost her.

I work for a food retailer Netto at their Head Office and often take a boot full of food for the animals at Bawtry.

These companies do the most amazing job and we need more people like this in the world.

I made my mama choose Other. Of these, we like Alley Cat Allies and Best Friends.

I used to be an alley cat, and my bro Hunter benefited from a tnr program. Alley Cat Allies focuses on tnr, which is one of the best ways to help control the number of stray kitties.

I hate to be negative, but we don't like PETA at our house. They wanted to kill the Vicktory Dogs. Even now, with several of them being fostered, and some even being adopted, they hold to their stupid stance. I mean, really, should we kill human children who have PTSD from being in a horrible abusive situation? Boo on PETA.

I do not support groups that would like to see everyone become vegans or doing wacko things to get publicity.
I respect those who sincerly help stray/abandoned cats and dogs.

We support the shelter where we came from and also a really nice cat only shelter in a neighboring town. Most of these cats will never get a home and they live in a nice house in rooms.

We support so many of the organizations other have written about. I volunteer at our local Humane Society which is such a fantastic organization. I am lucky to live in a state that seems to really care about animals and a community that supports our many rescue organizations. I have been to shelters in other areas of the country and left in tears. They all need our support be it time or money.

I like Alley Cats Allies, because they are helping ferals that need all the help they can get. By no fault of their own these cats are thrust out into the cold and callus world with no food or water. I also like and support a no kill SPCA animal shelter in my area, they work continuously to help abandoned cats and dogs.

We don't support PETA or HSUS because they murder adoptable animals.

Here we like the HSUS and The National Humane Education Society. On the first one, they are educating people to treat animals nice and the second will leave the animals in that place even though they are not adopted, something like a sanctuary, and like some of you, we dont like PETA, it a bunch of weirdos that abuse their popularity to do nothing!!

i'm a big fan of Best Friends. while PETA was on the news saying that the dogs from Vick's dog fighting "business" would have to be put down, Best Friends was busy lobbying to be allowed to help the dogs and setting up special runs in Dogtown. PETA makes a lot of noise-Best Friends makes a DIFFERENCE for animals.

We love Best Friends. Their philosophy is "kindness to animals builds a better world for all of us". They looked after me for 10 years and found me a new home when I was 21.

Mum also thinks Compassion in World Farming (http://www.ciwf.org.uk/) should also get everyone's support.

Pets Unlimited here in San Francisco is a very good organization. They are my favorite cuz they took good care of me when I needed a spay and shots. At the time I was still a stray and mom didn't know I had other plans (to be her second kitty hee hee).

I don't support any of these listed. The donations stay in the area and doesn't go out into the rest of the United States.

Example. The ASPCA is stationed in New York, and all donations stay in New York to help pets in New York. Not a dime comes into my community even though I gave a donation.

So, I donate to my local. Usually in pet food and sometimes cat litter.

We need to support our locals, and in this way will we ever be able to make a countrywide change.

PETA? I'm not even gonna go there!

I support local grass roots organizations, cause they get no publicity and work so hard at helping animals.

The Bilind Cats Rescue and Sanctuary is run by one woman with donations and voluteers only to help, and she works a regular job too! I make necklaces and sell them with the entire proceeds going to the blind kitties. That's a way I contribute.

And while I'm on the subject, I was looking at one of those stupid celebrity rags and saw the prices of Victoria Beckham's handbags, and just got LIVID over how far that money would go for animals. It breaks my heart that people have to have little bake sales or auction off their own stuff to help with animals in need.

If there was only some way to get those people with SO MUCH MONEY they don't even know how to spend it all to help others help animals. It's just so heartbreaking....

Our family sends financial support to BEST FRIENDS in Utah. While we support many of the programs initiated by the other pet groups, we feel that animals benefit most directly by the work done at BEST FRIENDS.

If you aren't a supporter, please consider becoming one. They do God's work here on earth (btw, that frees God up to concentrate on other things left unattended by the hoo-mans!)

Our meowmy believes that in order to continues to recieve blessings (financially), that you have to be wise enough to give finacial blessings to others. We give to a handful of organizations, including the ASPCA. Even though the majority of their funds go to help NY animals, they do a great job of exposing how much of a need there is to rescue and save animals.

Alley Cat Allies is also another wonderfur organization as it has a proactive preventative approach to saving animals with their T&R program.

A much lesser known organization, the Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary, gets majority of meowmy's money because it is truly a grassroots organization that is still 100% run by volunteers and chairtable donations and was started by someone who is still working a full-time job.

We may have to look into Best Friends too since we hear such great stories about them!

Hi,
We are supporters of Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary. Mom and Dad spend tons of time volunteering for them.

The founder, Amanda Rietz, modeled the organization after Best Friends, so Mom and Dad want to vacation out there and volunteer some time.

We have also heard of Blind Cat Rescue, which sounds like a wonderful organization too!

We support HSUS because the Rural Access Veterinary Services is part of HSUS. My mom has volunteered with them for the last few years. They provide spay, neuter, vaccine and vet care on Native American reservations. I was adopted last year in North Dakota at a clinic my mom was volunteering at. We also support Best Friends and our local shelter Seattle Animal Shelter

We all support any group that helps animals stay alive and find new homes. We can not commit to just one since all and any that try to help are of great value. We also would like to say that there are many groups of people and individuals that give their time and money to help and they should not be forgotten either. They are nameless but what they do to help animals means a lot and many animals would not be alive and in happy homes if it were not for them. Hats off to everyone who has taken time to help.

Best Friends Animal Society! They have a wonderful place where all kinds of animals can live out their lives if needed and they make great efforts to see them find loving homes if possible. They rescue and lots of times those rescues are absolute miracles. They spread awareness for animal issues all over too! We think they're just the best!!!

Goodness, I support all of these organizations.
I know a lot of people aren't fond of PETA, but you have to hand it to them: They get attention. Plus there's a huge difference between exploiting someone who doesn't want to be exploited (the way a lot of animals are) and somebody choosing to strip naked for a "rather go naked than wear fur" campaign.

Never ever ever ever ever in my wildest nightmare days would I in any way whatsoever supporyt or even mention PETA as an animal rescue organization. No organization that supports the senseless killing of animals as a greater good than living in a home with a loving family (even if it is the fringe that supportss this belief) would I ever give even the contents of my litter box to. I love my life. Lucy

The SPCA get's my vote all around. The work they do and the lives they save goes above the normal praise and thank yous! And they even work with owners to help them keep their pets by providing medical care and food.....show me where peta has even come close to doing anything like that.

peta is a disgrace to animals and to humans...I wouldn't give them one red cent!!! Why would anyone even put them in the same league as the SPCA let alone think that they have a care in the world about any animal!!!
