Lots going on at Catster HQ. The whole clowder has been busy sprucing up the site, welcoming new kitties (we just surpassed 400,000 Catster and Dogster members), creating pawesome contests and promotions, and keeping tabs on the pet food recall. Chew on these current highlights:
Dogster and Catster Launch RSS Feed for Pet Food Recall
To keep you updated on the latest developments in the ever-changing Menu Foods saga, Dogster and Catster have launched two RSS feeds designed to keep you and your kitty in the know. The Pet Food Recall Alerts RSS feed focuses on breaking news on the pet food recalls and The Pet Food Recall News RSS feed will provide information and commentary on the pet food recall that is less time-sensitive in nature. Users can subscribe to one or both RSS feeds from Catster's Pet Food Recall Resource Page. Here, they will also be able to view Dogster's DogBlog written by intrepid blogger Joy Ward, and find links to other organizations, including government-related agencies, that have pertinent information or are taking action related to the pet food recall.
Happy meows and woofs to precious pooch Coach Z! Her mom won a brand new Olympus digital camera, courtesy of Catster and Dogster. They were randomly picked from all the new members who signed up in March. That's not all the pupalicious good news: Dogster pup Minnie scored her mom 100 Zealies when she reFURred Coach Z to sign up! BOL! Want in on this action? Simply forward your pals to www.catster.com/fetch/refer to join Catster, and you and one of your new recruits could be next month's winner.
Sister site Dogster is a nominee for The Next Web Award in the Social category. The nomination mentions Catster too! We're with some pretty impressive company in this category, so the saying "it's an honor just to be nominated" certainly meows true. Please cast your vote for Dogster & Catster as best social website. The winners will be announced at The Next Web Conference in Amsterdam on June 1st.
Curious Cat Tip #103
Q: With prime driving season upon us, how can you ensure your kitty will be comfortable on those long car rides?
A: It's no shocker that most felines are finicky travelers. But there are some things you can do to promote a smooth ride when traveling with a high-maintenance kitty in tow. For longer drives, consider buying a larger than normal cat carrier. And while most cats will pooh-pooh snacking, drinking and using the potty while en route, it's best to have food, water and disposable pan available. Also, make sure the car is cool and carriers are kept out of direct sunlight for maximum comfort. Of course, on longer drives, make frequent stops so Ms. Kitty can eat, drink and be merry. Happy travels!

Catster Community: Making a Meaningful Impact
Catster member Liz recently sent in this lovely note that made our whiskers tingle.
I just wanted to tell you how much Catster means to us. When I joined Catster and made my seven-year-old cat her very own page, I met a lot of great people and got involved in some great causes helping abused cats. I even feel like my life has new meaning! Some of the nicest people I have ever met have been on Catster (and Dogster). All this might not sound like much to the average person, but it means the world to me. I don't have a big family and now I consider my new Catster friends my family. Thank you so much for uniting me with people who share the same deep love for their pets.We love to hear how Catster has changed/improved/bettered your life. Keep meowing those tales to firstname.lastname@example.org. If we use your letter in an upcoming newsletter, we'll credit your account with 10 Zealies!
Head bop with you later!
May all animals be happy and safe,
Catster, here kitty, kitty!
