Who We Are We are a group of committed volunteers who offer temporary foster homes to animals in need. We operate throughout New England and serve mostly dogs and puppies, although we sometimes have cats, rabbits, birds, etc. Please note: WE DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL SHELTER. Our animals are in foster homes throughout Vermont and New Hampshire. Appointments are necessary to meet the animals. Adopting a friend We use an open adoption policy. Our application contains some key questions that will help us determine which of our pets might be a good match for you, but we evaluate applications individually and will discuss it with you. We believe - and many of our successful adopters would agree - that suitable homes are denied frequently at other organizations and that this contributes to the tragic number of deserving animals that are euthanized each year. With that said, please understand that we do have the right to deny any application, and you must be 18 years or older to adopt. Many of our animals have been abandoned, neglected or abused. It is especially important in these instances for us to do everything in our power to avoid high-risk adoptions and ensure that the animals are not subjected to the stress of too many placements. We are a people friendly organization. We simply require that if for any reason you are no longer able to care for your pet, you contact us. We will take your pet back, NO QUESTIONS ASKED! Please note: this is a legal agreement, once you have completed the adoption application. If for any reason you must give up the pet, you must notify us. If that happens, however, we will help you through that process, and your relinquished pet will be well cared for and eventually re-homed. Once you have adopted from us, we will check in to see how your pet is working out and we encourage you to contact us as well with any questions, concerns or just a friendly hello from you and your pet. (we love pictures!) Adoption Fee: We are a non-profit organization dependent upon these fees and any donations in order to continue our rescue efforts. If you find the fee prohibitive, please discuss with us. Exceptions can be made under certain circumstances. Dogs & Puppies - all dogs (except for young pups) must be spayed or neutered and vaccinated prior to placement. Adoption fee for dogs is determined on an individual basis. Many dogs have required some more extensive veterinary care, boarding or special transportation arrangements. We determine the fee based upon these circumstances. Every penny we make on these fees is spent on rescuing other dogs, most of whom are scheduled for euthanasia when we step in. Sometimes it is costly, but it is worth it.
