Home Stretch Animal Rescue is a small, non-profit, all volunteer 501C(3) rescue organization dedicated to providing rescue, medical care, rehabilitation, and adoption services for companion animals. Founded in October 2005, Home Stretch Animal Rescue (HSAR) is primarily a feline rescue and advocacy group in northern Virginia, specializing in placing cats (and sometimes dogs) in good homes. We take extra care to be certain the cats we rescue and put up for adoption are cared for and healthy prior to adopting them out. Home Stretch Animal Rescue (HSAR) strongly endorses measures such as spaying and neutering of cats, dogs, and other companion animals, and believe in the rights of all animals to be humanely and fairly treated by humans. ADOPTIONS Home Stretch Animal Rescue (HSAR) charges an adoption fee of $100 for cats/$125 for dogs. This covers spay/neuter, FIV/FeLeuk testing (cats), Rabies and Distemper vaccines, deworming, etc. HSAR operates entirely through uncompensated volunteer time, and any money we collect in donations and adoption fees goes to buy medical services or supplies for the cats and dogs for which we are seeking homes. This park of 476 acres, with an 18 acre lake, offers fishing, hiking, nature study, and a variety of land and water recreation. Dogs of all sizes are allowed at no additional fee. Dogs may not be left unattended outside, and they must be leashed and cleaned up after. Dogs are not allowed on the athletic fields, but they are allowed on the trails. The camping and tent areas also allow dogs. There is a dog walk area at the campground. There are no water hookups at the campground.
