Great People, Great Dogs, Great Park

This park is just what we've been looking for. It has trees, dirt, a baby pool, plenty of water bowls, and benchs in the shade! Its alot better than the reston dog park where there is only gravel a handful of water bowls and no shade. The dogs have a ton of fun and play until they are "dog" tired. I've heard people say that the dogs play to rough but I've never seen it. People pay attention to their dogs here and if anything gets close to rough the owners are quick to respond. The small dog area isn't good, its all grass but there is not really any shade or seating. Owners with small dogs usually bring their dogs into the big dog area it usually works out fine as long as the small dogs know how to get out of the way of the big dogs wrestling. For a medium to large dog owner this is a perfect place. For small dogs it's fun as well as long as they watch their footing.

We like it

Compared to a lot of dog parks in Northern Virginia, this place is pretty good. It's larger than most and has lots of trees for shade and benches, so it's comfortable for people. There are a lot of "poo stations" around the park, which are trash cans with baggies provided. It's mostly sand, but there is a good amount of grass also. The back area of the park is kind of "wooded," and Shinji really likes to chase squirrels around the trees. I've never had any problems there with aggressive dogs or rude people. It's bigger and more welcoming than Reston. Northern Virginia needs more nice dog parks like this - somewhere in Fairfax City area would be nice.

Stay Alert and Have fun!

I've taken my dog here several times and have never encountered any problems. Like any dogpark, you have to remain alert at all times...and even then, bad things can happen for different reasons. I have been lucky to only have good experiences there...My boyfriend has complained to me about a few incidences there when other owners wouldn't correct their dogs for continually trying to mount his dog (which can cause fights) ... but I feel like that is an owner issue and shouldn't necessarily reflect poorly on the park itself. I've met many friendly dogs and dogowners there.
