Veterinarians & Specialists, Emergency Services
“San Antonio Veterinary Referral Specialists (SAVRS) is a new multispecialty small animal practice. Our initial emphasis is small animal internal medicine. We also offer small animal surgery and advanced dentistry, and will expand with other specialties in the near future. Our practice philosophy involves a team approach to case management and patient care. We hope and expect that this emphasis on cooperation between the SAVRS specialists and staff, referring veterinarians, and pet owners will provide the best possible care to the pets of San Antonio, surrounding communities, and South Texas. The key to this approach is good communication. ”
Exceptional careI met Dr. Fradkin and SAVRS under very unfortunate circumstances. My 8-year-old Schnoodle, Lil’ Bit, had developed unusual symptoms, including difficulty walking and horrible unexplained bruising, and once any type of broken bone or sprain was ruled out by my regular vet, I was referred to Dr. Fradkin for further testing and treatment. From the first appointment, it was obvious that SAVRS was not just an ordinary veterinary office. The professionalism, thoroughness and compassion that were demonstrated not just by Dr. Fradkin, but by his entire staff, made it very clear to me immediately that Lil’ Bit was receiving the absolute best care available. Unfortunately, Dr. Fradkin diagnosed Lil’ Bit with Hemangiosarcoma (cancer of the spleen). Over the next ten weeks, we dealt with surgery and chemotherapy, and I got to know SAVRS very well. Each time I took Lil’ Bit in, I was again amazed by the huge capacity for warmth and caring that each and every employee I met showed both me and Lil’ Bit. I was also constantly reassured by Dr. Fradkin’s calm professionalism and extreme thoroughness. Not only did I receive detailed written information regarding Lil’ Bit’s diagnosis and treatment at almost each and every visit, but Dr. Fradkin also did further research on my behalf, even contacting a veterinarian in England who was doing a study, to explore alternative treatments. Sadly, I had to make the excruciating decision to euthanize Lil’ Bit, as the cancer had metastasized. This final part of his care was, as I had come to expect, handled with the same degree of professionalism and empathy shown throughout. The quality of care and level of comfort Lil’ Bit and I received from Dr. Fradkin and his staff are unmatched even by my own doctors. They treated Lil’ Bit as if he were their own. I can’t imagine having gone through this with anyone more caring, knowledgeable, or understanding. |
Dr. Fradkin and Staff at SAVRSI was referred to SAVRS in April. I took my "baby" Tequila, a 12 yr old min schnauzer for diagnosis and treatment after he suffered what we thought was a seizure. Tequila was diagnosed with a tumor in his spleen and several abcesses in his teeth. Terrified by all these diagnoses, Tequila was put through a number of tests. Dr. Fradkin was incredibly compassionate and I do not have enough words to describe the wonderful treatment my baby received under their care. Dr. Veronika K. performed the dental surgery and eventually an spleenectomy, with Dr. Cindy attending. Both doctors are wonderful, kind and caring. Same with the entire staff. I recommend this clinic to anyone who is in need of a vet specialist. I would have lost my pet of so many years if I had not followed their advise ! Tequila is now feeling great and at 12 years old, acting like a 5 year old dog. God bless they entire staff at SAVRS. Annie Billick posted: August 6th, 2008 |
