“County animal shelter”
Hope I never end up here :-(I haven't had any experience with this place, however, a few years ago, mommy applied for a job here as an 'animal control officer'. They must have liked her, because they called her back for a follow up enterview. During this second interview mommy decided that she would interview them as well. her goal was to be an animal cruelty investigator, however HCAC does not offer than position. Mommy inquired about their method of euthanasia and they said that they use injection. Mommy then asked if they sedated the animal before euthanizing it and the head lady there said "not always". Then mommy asked if they used the "heart stick" method (a needle puncture to the heart to cause death, usually very painful for the animal). The head lady looked at mommy and finally said, "Yes, sometimes I do." Mommy then told her that she was sorry but she did not feel she could work for them since her goal was to help animals NOT pick them up and bring them to the shelter to be killed. I have to give them only a two rating. Regardless of their humane education, their methods of euthanasia is unacceptable. |
