“Since 1933, the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County has been providing shelter, food and medical care for thousands of unwanted, neglected and abused animals. It also works to foster humanity and gentleness toward animals, and promote responsible pet ownership through education. The expenses for the society’s services and programs are funded 100 percent by private donations and bequests from individuals and businesses, grants from foundations and trusts, and various fund-raising events. The Humane Society receives no funds from state, city or county governments. ”
