kind people work here!

I was having urinary trouble, and my regular vet was out of town. His office manager recommended Springfield Animal Hospital, and Mama took me over there immediately. Dr. Omar was very kind to me, and Mama found him very accessible and empathetic toward both her and me. His assistants were nice too. We were there about an hour, during which I was examined, given sub-q fluids and 2 medications. I roamed around the exam room freely while Dr. Omar spent a good half hour talking to Mama about what to do for me, admitting that vets don't know quite what causes FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease) so treating it is a combination of foods that acidify the urine, and relaxing the cat's urge to "go" with medication or environmental modifications. She was very impressed with all the staff we met, who were unhurried in their approach to us despite having to squeeze our visit into their schedule on a moment's notice. (edited/updated 2 weeks later) Since that first emergency visit I've been hospitalized there for several days because of repeat blockages resulting in surgery, and everyone has been very helpful to Mama on the phone, and allowed her to visit me. My assigned doctor is Dr. Luetke and he is just as nice, informed, and willing to take time with explanations as Dr. Omar.

Springfield Animal Hospital Loves Cats Too!

I find that some vets seem to favor dogs, but not here! Elvis had received care from my former family vet, but was geting worse by the day. My old vet told me that he was a rescue cat and most of them die anyway. I didn't want him to die! I went to Springfield Animal Hospital as an emergency new patient on a Sunday morning. They immediately helped me. He was given iv's and eventually admitted. He had already lost almost a pound in 5 days and he was only 12 weeks old! He is fine now. He was given great care and the staff was very supportive. I visited him everyday, even on a holiday. They never showed any annoyance with me or my grandchildren when we stopped in to visit. Dr. Omar called me at home (on his day off ) to tell me when Elvis had finally taken food. For a very stressful situation, I feel my cat had the very best care and I received great support from the vets and staff. Their facility also takes in injured pets that are found by the local police (sometimes hit by cars or hurt by people or other animals) . They treat them, and then keep them as" house pets" until they are adopted. Some of the older ones, and those with special needs, never are, so they give them a home on the second floor of the hospital indefinitely.

We love Springfield Animal Hospital!

We first took Switch to Springfield Animal Hospital the second day we had her when we realized she had worms. Springfield was the only vet open to see us on a Sunday and did not charge an exorbitant fee like other places that see emergencies on Sundays. Dr. Omar spent an hour with us and answered all our questions. Switch goes rather frequently to the vet since she has allergies and frequent ear infections. We have always had a great visit. The one time we had to wait a while was a day that two emergencies came in, and the office personnel let us know when we arrived about the situation. This practice is owned by the three vets that work there so they have a vested interest in making sure you are satisfied. Much better than at another vet that I've been too with loads of Dr's that don't spend any time with you or remember your pet.
