Highly Recommended!!!

I have owned several dogs throughout my life, or at least my family has. Two of which were exclusively mine. Zoey and my late Border Collie Tess. Tess has a myriad of skin problems that no other vet in the area could pin-point. It finally came down to me taking her to AVETS Emergency Clinic one night when she was oozing/bleeding. They took care of some of her infection but recommended me to see Northern Pike Veterinary. I went there immediately when they opened that day. Ever since then I have been taking every pet we have there including our other dogs and cats. They were prompt with their service and were able to diagnose the problem instantly. Tess was sent home with me with medication that properly treated her and got her back to normal within weeks whereas I had spent almost a thousand dollars with other vet clinics and medications that had only made the problem worse. Northern Pike Veterinary is a reasonably and moderately priced vet. I have been to places that charge more. I believe I get quality service for what I pay for. The vet never rushes me, answers all questions, and spends a lot of time with my pets. It's the only facility that has made me feel this comfortable and as if I am getting my money's worth. I have nothing negative to say about them. They even answer questions over the phone. Zoey, my current Miniature Schnauzer has been seen there since the day I brought her home from the Animal Rescue League. They helped me nurse her back to health and even remember her from her first visit on subsequent yearly visits! I definitely would recommend this place to anyone in the area. In fact, it's the ONLY place I will recommend after the headache I went through with Tess and other facilities.

Please DO NOT put your trust in this facility.

I took in my litter of puppies to be examined for the first time. There are 11 puppies and I was charged $308 for this visit. I was told that it was $35 for each dog, which is their normal price for a 30 to 45 minute appointment. I was given a 20% discount for having multiple dogs, which brought our total to $308 for the hour we spent there. They made it sound like they were giving me a discount. In all actuality, what we spent should have bought us 5 1/2 hours with the vet. I was also quoted a price to have their dewclaws removed for 8 of them at $30 each to equal $240. Thinking this was all a bit expensive, and this being my first litter of pups, I made a few phone calls to other vets in our town. Astonished at my findings... ALL 3 of the other local vets quoted the same examination I received for $40, $40 and $29 dollars for all 11 dogs to be seen. They ALL said they would not charge individual prices for each dog and instead just charge for 1 appointment. I also got a quote for the dewclaw removal as follows... $15 each per pup, $30 each, and $20-$25 each. Even though 2 of the other vet offices charged less than and even half the price for the dewclaw removal, the difference in the examination appointment is what is astronomical. I called Northern Pike to discuss this with them. They said that is what they charge and they were unwilling to discuss it any further. They also told me to make an appointment else ware to have the dogs dew claws removed because they will not see them now. I wanted to speak with the owner in person and asked if I could come into the office. I was told not to and that they "would consider that harassment." Being a new litter owner and a pet owner wanting to do what’s right for my pets, I put my trust in their facility to do right by me. I feel hurt and violated. It was my $308 loss. Don’t let it be yours.
