Editorial Review for Goodale Park – by Bill McComb
Picnic under the sun or, if it's raining, under the open picnic shelter. Check out the wedding gazebo; this fantastic structure is the perfect site for an urban wedding. Kids will love this park, not only for its wide-open areas, but also for its modern playground equipment. The activity-minded will enjoy Goodale's tennis and basketball courts. On the edge, a stocked pond provides tranquility to an already relaxing environment.
Goodale Park is also one of the sites for the Music in the Air series and is the home of the Community Festival. This popular annual gathering allows the community to celebrate its diversity through an array of street vendors and artistic performances.

Close to 15,000 dogs are turned in to the Franklin County Animal Control Shelter annually, and statistics show that almost 60% of dogs and over 70% of cats entering shelters nationwide will be euthanized. Many of the animals that are sent to these shelters are there only because thier owner has died or is unable to care for them due to illness. Fortunately, there are ways for pet owners to avoid these sad situations.
In the past, Ohio pet lovers did not have the same opportunities to care for their pets as in other more progressive states. However, due to new legislation, we can now create trusts specifically for the benefit of a pet!
Before this new law, this type of planning required creativity. Some options included: making gifts to a human that are conditional on that person taking care of the named animal, or creating a trust that would allow distributions to the human beneficiary only if that person takes proper care of the pet (as judged by trustee of the trust). Now, however, we can avoid all the "red tape" and create a detailed trust directly for the benefit of your pet(s).
To some, this type of planning may seem like a hassle to go through for a pet, but to others this gives the owner peace of mind. Certainly, a trip to the local pet shelter will persuade any loving pet owner that the other option for their animal or animals makes a little advance planning worth every penny.
