Menard & Allen Soulard, MO 63104 Pets of all sizes, shapes and colors will put on their party hats and parade through the streets of St. Louis for the 16th annual Beggin’ Pet Parade that kicks-off the city’s 2009 Mardi Gras celebration.
One of the highlights of this year’s parade will be the coronation ceremony to select the 2009 Beggin’ Court. Five lucky costumed canines will be chosen to be the King, Queen, Prince, Princess and Jester of the Court as last year’s court steps down from their thrones. memorable, fun-loving personalities and elaborate attention-getting costumes. All five of the canine court members will take home royal titles, along with prizes including a year’s supply of Beggin’ Strips. Back by popular demand, the best group costume title of “Most Loyal Subjects” will be awarded to the pack of pooches whose collaborative costume efforts are heads and tails above the rest.
The 2009 Beggin’ Pet Parade helps raise funds for the homeless pets at Open Door Animal Sanctuary, a no-kill animal shelter in the St. Louis area. A required registration fee of $10.00 per pet will be accepted starting at 10a.m. at the corner of Menard and Allen on the day of parade or online at www.begginpetparade.com up until February 15th.
