“Full service vetinerary care, on-site surgery, dental and nutrition care, after hours emergency services, house calls available, grooming and boarding. Very reasonable charges”
Best vet in the area -- Emergency care and house calls, too.Dr. Tom McDavitt of the Hickory Hills Animal Hospital and his dedicated staff are some of the best animal caregivers around. My mom has spent her career in emergency nursing. She knows first hand what a challenge it is to care for someone who is sick and scared. Imagine not being able to tell the person who is trying to help you what is wrong. Dr. McDavitt is able to understand this challenge from a similar perspective as he is deaf. Communication is not an issue. His assessment skills are superb and his observations keen. For his human clients, he is an excellent lip reader and is able to speak very clearly. His staff have the added ability to use sign language for any clarifications. My mom always writes down her questions and concerns to help save time. That way Dr. Mc Davitt can read a more detailed version. What's even more amazing is his ability to communicate with his animal clients. Even the most skittish dog or cat is calmed by this gentle caring man. Mom loves the fact that his prices are very reasonable and that he truly cares about his patients and their families. On top of this, he has an after hours emergency service (the most reasonably priced anywhere) -- as are the medications he dispenses. If this weren't amazing enough, he does house calls. My Mom is disabled and in an emergency, there is no way she could manage 4 large dogs in her wheelchair, getting them in the van, and then into the office. He is as considerate with his older clients as well -- making sure that no one needs to give up a precious pet because of illness or inability to drive. In a world where patients have become reduced to case file number, Dr. Tom Mc Davitt still practices the fine art of veterinary medicine as it was meant to be -- with true concern and caring, topped of with some of the finest medical skills of any vet in the area. His clinic is full-service. Besides taking on emergency cases and house calls, he is a well established veterinary surgeon, provides full dental care for pets, grooming, and boarding. All this and he's a really nice guy as well. My sisters and I all love coming to see him. Georgia, Mocha, Ladybug, and Roxy Mazzuca. |
