“Warl's programs focus both on caring for today’s homeless and abandoned animals and creating a brighter future for those who have yet to be born. Our innovative Shelter Animal Relief Effort (ShARE) brings together shelters and rescue organizations across the region to help alleviate the effects of the pet overpopulation crisis. To prevent additional unwanted litters of dogs and cats, which only exacerbate this crisis, we operate the only free Spay/Neuter clinic open to all residents in the Washington area regardless of income. To learn more about these initiatives, please select a program from the navigation bar. For information on our Volunteer Program, please visit the "How Can You Help?" section of the Web site. ”
AmazingI had the pleasure of visiting WARL recently, even though I live 9 hours away. I had heard about their amazing facility and, since I was in the area, I wanted to go see it for myself! Let me tell you, it really is the best animal shelter design ever. It is peaceful to be there, for people and for animals. Natural lighting comes in everywhere. What a wonderful place! Any shelter that needs to renovate their building should really follow WARL's example. |
What a shelter should beThis is the ideal model of what a shelter should be. There is water running over all of the dog runs, so all the dogs hear the soothing sound of water. There is also a waterfall with perches in the cat room and a waterfall in the puppy room. The stress levels are minimized by the water. This shelter has wonderful education programs also. |
