“ The Big Bad Woof is a community resource for companion animals and their guardians. We provide access to organic, holistic and premium raw diets, and a wide range of alternatives including holistic supplements for companion animals.”
My Favorite StoreThey sell the Sojourner Farms pre-mix which my food (the only kind I can eat) is made from. They also are one of the few stores which carries Weruva, which I eat occasionally (and which my people sometimes threaten to eat themselves). They sell Bravo frozen rabbit, which I don't eat (and which my people aren't interested in eating at all). BBW has all sorts of tasty food, even the dry kind which my people say is bad for cats but convenient for humans. That doesn't stop them from bringing home little sample bags sometimes, which they dole out very parsimoniously and refer to as "candy". I don't get any, but sometimes my mates do, IF they've finished their meals. They talk about the toys, beds, even greeting cards (those aren't for us) this "Woof" has, but they hardly ever bring any home, even though they say these things are "top quality" and "competitively priced". Mostly they buy food, but say they enjoy "browsing". I don't know what that is, but it sounds like something only a dog would do. Sometimes they talk about the people who work there, but I can't always tell the difference between those people and the ones they refer to as friends. They do seem to go there a lot (once or twice a week), but they have a lot of us to feed. |
Natural pet food and productsThe Big Bad Woof is Takoma Park's very friendly alternative to the corporate, big box environment of Petco and its ilk. They carry hard-to-find natural pet food, and are very knowledgeable about the products they sell. The store is also the location of frequent adoption fairs, where dogs and cats are brought in by local rescue groups; those are a great service to the community. Be forewarned: you're not going to find Purina chow here, but they can explain why you need to be more selective about what you feed your pet. They also carry a limited selection of toys, bedding, and grooming products. 1 pet found this review helpful |
