“Veterinary practice run by Dr. Rod McFarlane and Dr. Isabelle Gauthier. Offers medicine, surgery, dentistry, nutrition, boarding, and 24 hour emergency service.”
Best Vet ever!Even after 2 ACL-surgeries, lots of pokes and nail cuttings and Sadie being spayed, Sadie and I still love to go and see Dr. Rod. He allowed Dad to be there when Sadie was spayed, so she could see him right when she woke up, and we just love love love him. He has a wonderfully compassionate way with humans too. Dad says he wishes more people doctors were like him. |
Vets like this are worth their weight in gold. |
Dr. RodThe only experience I had with Dr. Rod was the day that Mickey had to be put to sleep. However, his practice clearly stood out to me for its compassion, professionalism, and caring. Mickey literally started showing symptoms of her cancer overnight. She had a tumor near her mouth that wasn't there the previous day. I phoned Highlands around 8:15 a.m. to try to get her rushed in. They had her in the clinic at 9:15. She had never been there before. When we met Dr. McFarlane, he was very gentle and sweet with Mickey, and very compassionate with me. It was clear that I was emotionally wrecked, even though I was 99% sure that Mickey would need to be put to sleep before I came in. Highlands has a special "comfort room" for their euthanasias. We had a soft love seat and a private area for this very emotional event. Both Dr. Rod and his assistant clearly cared, even though they'd never met us before. They took their time to make sure that Mickey was as comfortable as possible, administering a sedative and giving her a few minutes before coming back in after she got very anxious. That was the worst day of my life, but Dr. Rod and Highlands were so supportive. I really appreciate their practice. Now that my husband rescued a kitten from PAW Society, Dr. Rod will be Garret's vet for sure. I have had four co-workers say they wouldn't take their pets anywhere else too. |
