“The family owned business at Shamrock Ranch has been working for three generations to provide the finest dog and cat boarding and training facility in the Bay Area. Nestled at the foot of scenic Montara Mountain, Shamrock Ranch is often well insulated from the wind and enjoys the Linda Mar Valley sunshine. As a member of ABKA (American Boarding and Kennel Association) we strive to provide a safe and cozy environment for our canine guests. We offer three different kennel sizes suited to the weight and height of the occupant. Each kennel contains a dry, heated indoor quarter with a doorway leading to a private outdoor dog run. The outdoor run is open and available for your pets' use day and night. The spacious heated interior is equipped with a raised foundation for sleeping.”
Well established & good reputation, but...The facilities are very, very old wooden buildings, and I noticed no sprinkler systems inside the particular kennel building that my dogs had been kenneled in, just one smoke detector mounted on one end of the building, and it appeared to be a standalone fire detector like people put in their houses, not the type that's hooked up to a central alarm system. Most of the staff involved with feeding/walking the dogs seemed to be high-school students. Friendly, but doing it for a job, not necessarily because they really like animals. The grounds are nice -- lots of space & a quiet, remote & somewhat historic setting -- but they need to spend a lot of time & $$ totally renovating the kennel facilities before I'd feel comfortable boarding my dogs there again. posted: August 7th, 2007 |
Great Facilities, Great TrainingWe took our Moxie here and she clearly had a great time. She also did a daily training regimen that was clearly done with a lot of love. She now obediently down stays, heels and other abilities we had a hard time teaching. Highly recommended. |
