Dixie Does Daycare

Dixie is a little bit quieter than most dogs and loves to spend time alone. Citizen Canine has actual rooms for each dog! So she isn't bothered by other dogs. They also put her in play groups of other small, mellow dogs so she doesn't get trampled! I love how understanding and knowledgeable their staff is. . . would definitely recommend!

Great place for boarding & daycare

I took both my dogs to twice weekly daycare at Citizen Canine for several months when they were puppies. The staff is great, and my dogs had a terrific time. The dogs have private rooms with supervised play/potty trips to an outdoor area several times a day. The dogs are grouped according to age, size, and activity level -my German shepherds were in the "active adolescent" group. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. They have an APDT certified dog trainer on staff, and every day you get a report card showing how your dog did that day. We've only boarded them overnight twice, once for just one night, another time for 5 days over the Thanksgiving weekend. A free bath was included in the 5 day stay, and when we picked up our dogs they were happy, not stressed, and had been so popular the staff didn't want to give them back! They have other services for an additional fee, including training, extra love sessions with a human, T-touch massage, and a limited amount of agility equipment. The hours are great too, they're staffed 24/7, with the front office open for drop offs and pickups from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, other hours available upon request. Citizen Canine is very conveniently located on the way to the Oakland Airport. They sell a small amount of food/treats/toys, and if you prefer not to bring your dog's own food, they feed California Natural.
