“Puppy and Dog Obedience Classes Group classes are an ideal setting to help your puppy or dog learn the basics of obedience and safety, as well as affording the opportunity for socialization with other dogs and people. Group classes help your canine companion learn to focus on you and your commands in an environment with multiple distractions, helping to ensure that your pet will respond to you regardless of the setting. In addition to the basic obedience commands such as sit, stay, come, down, heel, off/don’t touch, group classes offer training in street protection (wait at the curb) and a basic agility course that includes hoops, jumps, tunnels and bridges to build your dog’s confidence and ability to respond appropriately in a variety of situations. Puppies as young as 10 weeks of age can enroll providing their shots are current, but your dog does not have to be a puppy to benefit from group classes. Dogs of all ages benefit from socialization and learning and, even if your dog has received training previously, group classes are a great way to reinforce learned commands. Each group class begins and ends with a general question and answer period giving you the opportunity to address some of the more common issues facing owners such as barking, jumping up or chewing as well as the opportunity to ask about issues related to “homework” between class sessions. ”
