Art for Cats Auction on Ebay

Would you like to own an original piece of cat art by Roz Chast?

Our Catster friend Raypod alerted us to this upcoming online art auction to benefit a New York city cat rescue operation and Manhattan’s Anjellicle Cats Rescue in which you can bid on art by Chast and other New Yorker cartoonists and illustrators… and in so doing help save cats and kittens from certain death. Starting bids for most pieces are set at $100 or less well below their actual value. The auction will be conducted on eBay.

ART FOR CATS was started specifically to build a wall. On January 29th, 2009, Kathleen Goward was forced to shutter Pomegranate Looms her exotic rug store and covert cat rescue operation and relocate the unadopted cats to her loft. But she needed to separate the healthy displaced cats from the ones with contagious diseases, like feline leukemia. Illustrator and cat rescue volunteer Kathy Osborn appealed to her talented friends to donate art for the partition, which is being built now on the promise of funds raised by the February Auction. Excess monies will go to Manhattan’s Anjellicle Cats Rescue, which will collect all contributions from ebay.

The list of contributing artists is impressive! There will be original paintings, drawings, cartoons and prints available. Artists include: Victoria Roberts, Adam McCauley, Roz Chast, Kathy Osborn, George Booth, Greg Clarke, Julliette Borda, Sam Gross, Mark Ulriksen, Danny Shanahan, Mel Odom, Calef Brown, Susan Hunt Yule, Joe Ciardiello, Jean-Philippe Delhomme, Liza Donnelly, Cynthia Von Buhler, Nick Dewar, Tatsuro Kiuchi, Jordin Isip, Melinda Beck, Catherine Lazure, Jessie Hartland, Rutu Modan, Holly Roberts, Emiliano Ponzi, Maureen Burdock,
Noah Woods, Scott Menchin, Robert Neubecker, Brad Mossman, Barbara Ensor, Marc Burckhardt, Valeria Petrone, and many more.
