My Cat From Hell Season 2

Sometimes a TV show comes along that just hits all the right marks. Cat guy? Check! Cat-loving families? Check! People who are willing to go above and beyond to help cats and not dump them at a shelter or out on their own? Check!

If you haven't seen this show before, I'm talking about My Cat from Hell on Animal Planet. It's all about a cat guy, Jackson Galaxy, who is a self-proclaimed cat listener. He visits people who are having trouble with their cats' behavior and really helps the cats (and the people!) get back under control.

Jackson Galaxy helps Lu Lu in Season 1.

This is something that is near and dear to me because many of the cats on this show are former ferals or rough rescues. These people were amazing and caring enough to bring these cats into their homes, but the cats' "hellish" behavior is now getting in the way of their lives, relationships, or sanity. The good news, though, is that these owners are willing to learn and listen and do whatever it takes to get the situation under control so the cats can stay in their home.

You all know I love the ferals! My parking-lot kitties are near and dear to me, but I know some of them would have a lot of trouble adjusting to home life. I wish I had Jackson Galaxy here to help them. Imagine if they could all be comfy in homes and around people!

Even if you don't have an out-of-control cat, My Cat from Hell is still worth watching. You may learn something, but most importantly, it's up to us as the cat-loving community to support shows like this. We need more people like Jackson Galaxy!

Imagine if all animals with behavioral problems were given this chance and this help. Imagine how many fewer pets would be dumped at kill shelters because of silly problems like scratching or peeing. Imagine how many lives could be saved!

So whether you have a bad kitty or not, let's tune in Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on Animal Planet. Let's support this show and let Animal Planet know that we love it, and the premise behind it.

Here's a great quote from Jackson: "I am truly content when I can walk into someone's home, or talk to them on the phone and help turn problems into workable programs," he says. "It's my mission to keep cats from being euthanized -- out of shelters and off the streets for reasons that are entirely preventable."

Now that's a mission I can support!
