box-cat-sealed

Troy, New York was the site of a Christmas miracle this morning when a dog, out for a walk with his owner, sniffed out a kitten who'd been sealed inside a cardboard box (above) and left in an alley for garbage pickup.

The woman and her dog heard the plaintive mews of a kitten in a pile of trash awaiting collection. Investigating further, the dog uncovered the box and the owner pried it open to reveal an 8-10 week old kitten.

They contacted Troy Animal Control and the kitten was taken to the Troy Veterinary Hospital on Hoosick Road. Although the kitten suffered from exposure, it's expected to recover and will be kept at the facility while the investigation unfolds.

Troy Police detectives are asking anyone with information to call them at 270-4430.The alley is located between 109th and 110th streets and Third and Fourth avenues in Troy.

Now, everyone give that dog a high-five!
