The plot of the upcoming action-comedy movie Keanu, as written by and starring the comic duo Key and Peele, can be aptly summed up by the following quote:

“We in the market right now for like a gangsta pet.”

That immortal line is uttered as they attempt to infiltrate the criminal underworld in a bid to rescue a tabby kitten called Keanu who has been stolen from the character of Rell, as played by Jordan Peele. For added murky ambience, Rick Ross’ “Hustlin'” broods and pumps in the background.

As the action unfolds, our noble cat retrievers also run into a lineup of nefarious characters played by guests including rapper Method Man and Saturday Night Live cast member Will Forte.

High-octane shenanigans and goofy one-liners ensue as Key and Peele go about their mission. Based on the trailer to the flick, which has a release date of April 29, this brainiac feline rescue mission also involves the classic combination of quoting lines from the iconic ’90s drug game movie New Jack City and warbling car karaoke to George Michael’s “Freedom.”

As for Keanu the kitten? Well, let’s just say he’s all about channeling the image and spirit of 50 Cent circa 2003, complete with kitty Kevlar vest.
