Videos We Love: Cats Who Are Hitching a Ride

Walk? Ha! These cats get around by riding -- on a ram, a tortoise, or maybe a motorcycle.

Our cats are smarter than we think. In my case, that says a lot, because I’m pretty sure my Bubba Lee Kinsey and Phoenix are only four thumbs away from ruling the house, if not the world.

The cats in these videos further prove my point. They know the easiest way to get from point A to point B is not to walk, but to ride — whether that’s on the back of a horse, ram, or tortoise — yes, really. The path to world domination gets pretty weird sometimes — and pretty cute.

1. Cat rides horse

Apparently it’s not uncommon for Morris the cat to perch on Champ the horse’s rump, where he chills whenever he needs a new perspective on things. As Champ and another horse groom each other, Morris calmly surveys his domain. It’s a good thing Morris doesn’t have thumbs — that’s all I’ll say.

2. Kitten rides tortoise

I’m sure this video comes with an interesting backstory that explains why these people have a tortoise in their house, as well as why this fluffy, black kitten ended up riding the reptile through the living room like a king. I’ll just assume the tortoise is somehow indebted to the kitten’s parents and must provide daily transportation from the food dish to the sun puddle until the debt is paid.

3. Cat rides ram

This giant black-and-white kitty is at least upper-middle management material, if not a potential CEO. Instead of placing his delicate paws in the snow, he hitches a ride on the warm, wooly back of a mostly indifferent ram.

4. Cat rides magic carpet

A Siamese cat dressed like Princess Jasmine chilling atop a Roomba-powered “magic carpet” to the soundtrack of “A Whole New World”? Sounds like it could be either the best or the worst acid trip ever, but I assure you, it is very real.

5. Cat rides motorcycle

This teaser from It’s Okay to Be a Cat Guy introduces us to a badass biker who roars down the street with his gorgeous black “biker cat” stretched out on his own personalized saddle, enjoying the sun on his face and the wind in his whiskers. Needless to say, this dude makes being a cat guy look more than just “okay.”
