About six months ago, my friend Tina and I discovered the world’s most amazing 15-second cat video. A fluffy, orange tabby stares curiously at the camera, eyes wide and alert. Something has definitely got this handsome boy’s attention. Seconds later, the cat does the unthinkable: He gets up and walks offscreen ON TWO LEGS. He looks like a hunchbacked henchman in a hurry to hide his stolen gold before the night watchman arrives — or something like that, at least. Check it:

Turns out this seemingly bizarre ability to stand up and walk around like a tiny, weird human is more common than I thought. Here’s video proof that cats really are only two thumbs away from taking over the world.

1. Kitty creeper, part 2

Much like our favorite fluffy orange biped, this pure-white scaredy cat makes a hasty and hilarious two-legged exit.

2. There’s a compilation for that

The cats in this quick compilation act like what they’re doing is normal — especially the evolutionarily advanced brown tabby who walks the length of an entire room, not only on two legs but also backwards.

3. That escalated quickly

When it comes to crazy-intense cat fights, I definitely would not want to mess with the cat on the right. After he stands up on two legs, even the other cat is like, “Whoa dude. Just chill.”

4. Daydream believer

Apparently sometimes it’s normal for a cat to stand on his hind legs and gaze thoughtfully out the window for several minutes. I did not know this, and I’m not sure I like it.

5. He’s watching you

Even though it takes mad balance and core strength — two things I work on developing each week in yoga — I think I’d be a little unnerved if I walked into a room to find my cat perched comfortably on his hind legs, just staring at me like nothing was amiss.
