Ever wondered what a cat-centric version of the crowdfunding venture Kickstarter would be like? Ponder no more as CatStarter is here.

An invention of the Meow Mix brain-trust, CatStarter lets you vote for your favorite of three feline-friendly inventions. (They's all in the idea stage, but each has a cute animated video to go with it.) The ideas include Hot Keys (a heated cat bed that resembles a keyboard), Meal Machine (a Twitter-activated feeding setup), and Twister Dish (a food bowl with a funnel to prevent the problem of cats not liking to eat from the perimeter of their bowls).

The invention that receives the most votes by April 11 will be awarded money and go into development. What's more, CatStarter is looking for readers to send in their own inspired cat-inventions.

At the moment, one of the top submissions is the Working Sidecar bed. It hooks onto the side of a desk chair, thereby letting your cat hang out with you while you work without getting in the way of that all-important keyboard action.

Other pitches include Mouse Mouse (a toy mouse that mimics the movements of your own computer mouse), and the FitMat, which allows you to monitor the weight of your cat while they eat. The latter would allow me to weight my cat Mimosa without doing that thing where you weigh yourself and then stand on the scale while holding the cat and subtract the difference to work out the cat's weight.

Anyway, once you're done with the brainstorming, enter your submissions over at the CatStarter website. Good luck!
