One Life Down, Eight To Go….

In Spartanburg, SC, a skittish cat stuck on an apartment roof for three weeks eluded efforts to bring him back to terra firma. The fire department tried twice with no success. Spartanburg Animal Control was contacted, but said it could not put its officers at risk by having them climb on the roof (methinks if the Animal Planet cameras were rolling, they’d have been more accommodating.) Tree services were contacted, but the cost was exorbitant.

Enter WSPA’s Channel 7 News. After a couple of phone calls, they got veteran rooftop cat rescuer Matt Schaper to the scene, and he cornered the cat in the roof’s gutter. But you won’t believe what happened next … watch the video (the video is well worth watching if for no other reason than to see Cherie Holsten using a special call to summon the cat to the edge of the roof).

Here’s a big THANK YOU to:

  • Cherie Holsten, who fed the cat during its residency on the roof and was instrumental in its rescue.
  • Channel 7 News WSPA in Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville-Anderson SC for helping get this cat down from the roof when all other avenues had been exhausted.
  • Matt Schaper of New Image Tree Services.
